From previous experience, what is the MUST see at Prt Canaveral, Nassau, and/or Freeport. We're booked for the Pride cruise and in addition to vow renewals, I'm trying to plan outgoing money for suggested trips. (Both of us are cruise virgins, I don't know how to swim, and want to do more on the trip than souvenirs for the kids.

Or with theses ports, are there any you'd rather stay aborad to have the ship to "yourselves"?

Hey yall! Looking for anyone going on the Pride cruise to Canaveral, Freepart, adn Nassau. My hubby and I are booked, and while on board, I've arranged for a surprise vow renewal ceremony. Since it's just my hubby and I, the package includes up to six guest for champange and cake.....willing to feed cake if you can take photos wilth our camera, video, help with makeup etc.

I do realize the spa can do it, but I'm trying not to pay (what I assume) is a small fortune . I thought there might be some semi or professionals on board willing to help out for a few hours.

We're so excited to be taking our second cruise on a Carnival ship. We took our first in January on the Liberty and it was so much fun! Only bad thing was that our youngest son wasn't quite old enough for Camp Carnival. But our next cruise is right after his 2nd birthday, so we will finally get a couple hours of free time to ourselves, and we can't wait!!! Of course we'll have fun with the kids, too, but oh, to have five seconds to ourselves for once? The last time we sat by a pool with a drink in our hands and no kids by our sides was five years ago on our honeymoon! Wish we were leaving tomorrow!

My wife and I are sailing on the Pride going out of Baltimore on December 27th and were wondering if any other Boston folks are joining us?

This is our first time cruising out of a "cold weather" port and are anxious to see how it goes. We've sailed out of Tampa the past few years at the same time so this is going to be a bit different.

Look forward to hearing from any other Massachusetts cruisers!

1ST TIME CRUISER- NEVER AGAIN OUT OF BALTIMORE

Sunday (Embark) -I booked this cruise over a year ago with my friend- girls get away from husband holiday. My friend’s ninth cruise- my first cruise. We were so excited that Carnival has a ship going out of Baltimore. We arrived around 2:30 – waited in line for about 30 minutes to get our carnival sign and sail card and off we went to find our room. We sailed around 5:00 after muster drill ( did not have to bring life jacket to muster drill) The first night was open seating in dining room- food was excellent. Watch out for the photographer- pictures taken at table every night!! Bags arrived around 7:00 – we unpacked and wandered around the ship.

Monday- Rained most of day went to Spa and worked out- This is a very nice spa- take a shower there instead of cabin- many shower heads compared to one in cabin. The whirlpool was large and comfortable. Tonight was the first elegant night – so we had our hair done in the spa and preceded to get ready for 6:00 seating. Again, food was excellent and more picture taking!! Went to show in Taj Mahal – fantastic – plenty of seating.

Tuesday- 9:30 went to Lido deck and got our chairs by the main pool. (if you arrive after 10:00 chances are you won’t get a chair. Listen to music- ate lunch on lido deck- participated in yes/no game and won a medallion. We met so many Obama supporters on this cruise. Carnival even had a couple of male break dancers to entertain us at many events around the ship. I asked my friend if she encountered this on her other cruises with Carnival- NOPE – this was a first for her!!!!

Wednesday- Arrived in Port Canaveral 7:00 am- We had a car rental reserved for the day to cruise Cocoa Beach. There are buses waiting to take people to Ron Jon Surf Shop, Wal-Mart, Mall, and a Merritt Park for a nominal fee. The car rental was a waste- Cocoa Beach area was not very big- so we ended up on Cocoa Beach for the day and had Lunch at Coconut’s.

Thursday- Arrived in Nassau, Bahamas 11:00am- had a shore excursion booked to snorkel and enjoy the beach at the Blackbeard Treasure Hunt and Beach. In my opinion, this was a waste of money. The beach was nice, but the snorkeling was a joke- you snorkel from the beach and with so many people in the area designated for snorkeling – I saw 2 fish and one star fish- not my idea of snorkeling. Also, other excursions dock at the same beach- so very crowded- would not recommend. The shopping in Nassau was great- plenty of shops. We also visited Atlantis- took a taxi over and back cost approx 5.00 per person one way- but the driver waits until he has a full van before he drives away.

Friday- Freeport- Arrived 7:00 am – We did not book any excursions – There is some shopping at the dock- mostly tourist gifts. There is more shopping available in town. In my opinion – stopping at Freeport is a waste of time- for 6 ½ hrs!! Tonight was also Halloween Party were adults/kids dress up in costume. I received an email from Carnival prior to trip indicating an Adult Halloween Party and activities. The party consisted of everyone in costume meeting on deck 2 and mingling, then cruise director(s) pick out 25 best costumes. Then everyone went to Taj Mahal to see picked people and vote for best costume by audience clapping and cheering. Carnival measures the decimal sound of cheering and clapping to decide on best costume. Well, guess who won? A person dressed as Steve Urkel !! What a major disappointment, with so many original and creative costumes to pick from!!! I would rather have had a big Halloween party on the Lido deck with games and prizes.

Debarkation – Ship arrived in Baltimore 8:30- We choose to self debark- (which is carrying everything with you) and was off the ship by 10:00. Make sure you are on deck 3 before they call your floor for self debark and then you only have to go down one deck to get off the ship.

In conclusion, the Pride was beautiful, staff excellent, food suburb and the entertainment was good. I did not like the overall atmosphere of the cruisers on board, many were rude and obnoxious. I even encountered a family from Pennsylvania that wanted off the ship when we docked in Port Canaveral, but was told they would have to pay 300.00 per person processing fee to get off the ship. If the Pride sailed from another port, I would gladly book another cruise – but never again from Baltimore.

Pride 11/1/2009 Good Food, Dirty Pool

My wife and I took out 8th cruise last week. It was our 3 rd with Carnival and 2nd time on the Pride.

Weather: Sunday, Monday and Saturday was to cold for THE pool but the hot tubs were nice.

Food and Service was great.

Now for the bad part. The adults only pool was very dirty on two of the days. The water was cloudy and had trash floating in it. Also the adults only rules were not enforced with kids running around and babies crying at the adults only pool.

My wife and I don't smoke but we do go out to bars when at home. The clubs on the ship were full of cigarette smoke. The smoke was so bad that my eyes were tearing and our cloths stunk. We weren't the only ones complaining about the smoke. On our last day at sea it was a topic around the pool on how bad the smoke was. Also the ship has rules on were you can and can not smoke. The port side of the deck was the smoking area. This rule wasn't enforced. People were snoking on both sides of the ship around the pools and lido deck eating areas.

Rough Seas out of Baltimore?

I read a thread that mentioned how rough the seas were out of Baltimore and they didn't calm down until they were almost in Flordia. Has anyone else expereinced this situation on the Pride? We are sailing on the Pride Dec 7th and want to be prepared.

Carnival's Gang land dancers

Last week when I sailed on the Pride out of BaltimoreI I noticed something that I don't think Carnival is awear of. The cruise had allot of children on it who live in Baltimore, Baltimore like most big cities have a problem with street gangs, the Bloods Street gangs is a major problem in Baltimore. The Bloods gang members wear Red Clothing. Carnival had two male break dancers who were dressed in all red clothing head to toe with cut off sleaves to show their many tatoos. I watched them perform and was amazed that they were flashing or making gang signs with their hands when they danced. When they weren't performing they were hanging out with the teenage girls on the ship. This does not make for a positive family image. Carnival should rethink this form of entertainment. If Carnival wants to have break dances to entertain then they should be dressed in the same red and blue Carnival uniform, cover up the tatoos and not mingle with teenage female guests.

Parking at the Baltimore Port??

We cruise on the Nov. 15th, 2009 to the Bahamas. Was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to find port parking and how secure the car will be? Also, is there a charge?

This is our 3rd cruise. Second one on Carnival. First time leaving out of Baltimore.
