What's so special about Ecstasy?

There seems to be many die-hard Ecstasy fans on these boards! So what makes her so special compared to other ships? Just curious. I sail on 1/9/10 and I can't wait!

I am a teacher, we have the whole week of Thanksgiving off, so what a better way to vacation? Anyone else out there booked on this cruise yet? This is our 3rd cruise, but our first one on Carnival. We haved sailed with RCCI twice. Anyone care to compare the two?

Ecstasy Thanksgiving Week, Teen Wanting To Connect With Other Teens

I'm traveling with my wife, 13 year old daughter and 10 year old son on the 11-23-09 Thanksgiving sailing and my teen daughter wants to try and connect with some other teens around her age ahead of time. On her last cruise, the younger teens didn't really warm up to each other until the end of the week. She's hoping that if she talks to some online ahead of time, they can hang out right away.

Hi! We're sailing next week (Nov 23) on the Ecstacy. Woo hoo! We're heading to Nachi Cocom while in Cozumel. Is there another couple who would like to split a taxi cab? Or if anyone has been to Nachi Cocom, what did you think about it? It looks really neat--I've done LOTS of research and haven't found many bad reviews at all.

I read somewhere on the FAQ that certain ships (Ecstasy included) require both a S&S card and a room key, rather than the S&S doing double duty. Is this the case? I was thinking if they still had this situation recently they might change all the locks during the dry dock. I don't want to have another thing to carry around and keep track of!

I am getting ready to take my first cruice (Ecstacy 11/28) and was wondering about the drink card, how much does it cost and does it include soda only or is water also ok for this card.

I know you can bring on 1 bottle of wine per person but what about a 6 pack of soda?

I-Phone Usage while on the Ship

Is there anyone out there that has travel on the Ecstacy that has taken their I-phone? If you did, I would love to ask a few questions:

1) Did you use the phone to make calls, text, or get internet while on the ship. If so, do you remember the cost?

2) Did you put the phone in Airplane mode or turn off data roaming?

I am debating whether or not I should even take the phone with me. I would love to have it, and be able to use it on occasion to stay in touch with home, but I do not want to rack up an enormous bill. Any info would be helpful. I don't use my phone as much as I text. I understand that Iphones can rack up data charges because aps are constantly updating even when not in use..

I was told that International Phone plans do not apply to Cruises...they have there own signal and that will cost 2.49 per minute..

Also, what it will cost while on land in Mexico to if someone knows.....

Iphones are a different breed I am told....has me scared and holding my wallet!

We(family of 5) are trying to decide which Mayan ruins shore excursion to take.

Is the Chichen or Uxmal worth the 5 hrs drive?(is it actually 2 1/2 hrs each way) All my research show these two, to be much more spectacular to visit.

Or should we just do the shorter Dzibilchaltan tour.

Many people want to have a drink in their room and wonder how to do it.

You can call Carnival Bon Voyage office at Carnival Cruise Line and order the bottle of your choice and it will be in your room when you enter your cabin. For example, Skye Vodaka is $40. I know that is a little steep but if you figure out the price of a drink at the bar at $6.95 plus 15% versus this price. . . it is a steal. You could bring your own mix in your bags.

Call Carnival Bon Voyage office at Carnival Cruise Line and price the bottle of your choice.

Good Morning everyone who will read my question. I was wondering what time should we arrive at the terminal to start to check in for our fun time on the Ecstasy. I can't wait for our great trip. One more question, when we check our luggage that is when we pay for our Sail and Sign Card. Sorry I just want to make sure of everything and im glad there are you out there to help us out. This is going to be our 5 yr early Anv. I just want to make sure of everything.

Less than 40 days til Dec 26-31 cruise--who else is going?

It's getting closer to the cruise date--Dec 26--when we sail again this year on Ecstasy between Christmas and New Years. What a cruise it was last year. The whole family loved it--and there were 10 of us in three cabins. It was such fun that we booked it again this year for the entire family. We have our kids in their 40's and four grandchildren from 13 to 18. It is really shaping up to be a wonderful cruise.

So, who else is cruising with us? We know the ship sails full, so join us in posting from now until then. Hope to hear from you here and see you on Carnival Ecstasy Dec 26. Bon Voyage!

We just watched Ecstasy on the Galveston Cruise and Harbor cams leave again for another fantastic voyage. We poured a glass of wine and toasted as she went down harbor. Our next cruise on Ecstasy is in 42 days and we are so excited. Bon Voyage!
