Has any one noticed how Carnival deeply discounts the cabins the closer it gets to sail date? I booked my reservation over a year ago thinking that I was going to get a great deal! WRONG!!!!!!!!! The rates are $250 less now than what I paid. When I called Carnival to inquire...they offered me an upgrade. The upgrade is three decks higher than what I requested but it is just a higher view of the water. The cabins are the same size...no extra amenities no balcony...nothing worth $250 and the current rate for that cabin is still less than what I paid a year ago!

I am a regional revenue manager in the hotel industry. I certainly know that desperate times call for desperate measures. But I would never treat a guest in one of my hotels the way I have been treated by Carnival Cruise Lines. I would certainly honor the "published rate" if they brought it to my attention!

I will never use Carnival again in planning my vacation.

Fascination vs. Fantasy

We took our first cruise this year out of Jacksonville on the Fascination and had the time of our lives! We live in Alabama and I'm trying to plan our next trip for next April (wedding anniversary); looking at the Fantasy, which will be departing from Mobile.

If anyone has been on both of these ships, I'm wondering if they are similar and/or if we will enjoy the Fantasy as much as we enjoyed our first trip on the Fascination.

Any opinions here? Thanks!

Carnival Insipiration Crew Member Vanburn

I recently took a cruise on the Inspiration ship (8/2/08 thru 8/7/08) to Cozumel, Mexico. I had an awesome time. My head waiter each night for dinner at the late seating was named Vanburn from Grenada. Here's a picture of us after dinner on the last night at sea.
