And they were simple things like a hamburger, a specialty pizza and simple things like that, not like going to the Supper Club or other restaurants where you know you will have to pay.

Well, I told her she must have been mistaken, because it was my understanding that food was all inclusive no matter what you had or where you ate unless it was one of the specialty restaurants or coffee places or gift shop. But she insisted that it was like this on all cruises and Carnival would be the same way.

So was it just her particular cruise line or is she right? If I just randomly want a slice of pizza will I have to pay for it out of pocket?

Thanks to all that reply!

Carnival Pride casual eating

Hello

ALL the food and beverages are purchased in the U.S.

Leftovers are ground up to about one millimeter and becomes fish food, with exception of some items (e.g., coffee, onion heads).

The food is loaded in 2-3 hours before the cruise in 4-hour window of time. IF the loading is not completed in that 4 hour window they sail as is. The officer told us that has never happened.

The crew does not eat the same food as the passengers because it is too rich (that it is!).

Storage of food is on 0 (Zero) deck and the water (potable, gray, and black waters) is used as ballast and is taken in and shifted as it is needed.

Galley inspections are conducted by staff on each cruise and an inspection and rating is given by the US Public Health 3 times a year. The Glory is the only ship in the world to receive 100% rating each time.

This concludes today's contribution to Trivia Pursuit.

steakhouse

How do you reserve in advance for that or can you reserve when you get on the boat????

Ordering multiple main courses in Dining Room

Is being able to order multiple main courses for dinner, documented anywhere as an official perk?

I have been reading this here, in both good postings and in bad (complaints), but I haven't been able to find it written down by Carnival itself.

One of the reasons I am bringing this up, is that on my cruise a few weeks ago, I went on the kitchen/galley tour. That started with a sit-down talk by the head of the food department on-board (I forget his title, but the maitre D's report to him). He was bragging about how great and advanced their computer ordering system is, and mentioned that one of things it does, is it will prevent a waiter from "accidentally" ordering more dinners than passengers he is assigned to serve.

So, I am wondering, when a single passenger orders for themselves, for example, 5 lobster dinners, how does the waiter get them?

One way, I guess, is that the extra dinners get assigned to "no shows". I mean, I am sure that every waiter as a few passengers who don't show up for a sit down dinner on any given evening.

Or does the waiter need to get an exception approved by someone? Possibly, the maitre D gets involved?

Or does the waiter just walk into the kitchen a grab a few extra plates, and no one officially knows a passenger is "pigging out".

Don’t forget dessert where you had a wide selection of dried out cakes, brownies, and cookies. Or you could enjoy a decent hamburger and some tough chicken strips which were mainly made up of over cooked batter and stringy meat. My husband and I had to look for restaurants on the islands just to find some decent food. There were other portions of the cruise (which was a our honeymoon we spent THOUSANDS of dollars on) we didn't enjoy, however, the food was the most disappointing of any food I have ever had in my life. Never again will we use Carnival!
