This is my third Carnival Cruise this year having gone on the Fasination and Triumph earlier in the year. I have mixed reviews on my trip.

Bad weather definately affected the trip all around for everyone on board. Getting onto the ship from port in NYC took 4 hours my myself and family. They were loading very slow as the gangplank they used was extremely steep, due to 1. the weather and tides. 2. The ship was bigger then they expected it to be in port and was told they were unable to use the planks they usually use to enter the ship. By the time we were able to board the ship it was nearly 5 pm. We were totally starved at this point but still had to go through the muster drill.

The muster drill is alot easier to do on the Dream then it ever has been on any of my past cruises. You no longer have to bring your lifejacket with you to the drill and they are not done at the actual lifeboats. They are done inside and there is a video to watch. The video screen at the station I was at didnt work, so I never did see the film.

The service the first night was pretty bad. It took a very long time to get dinner and the staff seemed a little frazzled to say the least. The ship was rocking pretty bad. It was so bad there were people sick all over the place. I continously was telling first time cruisers that It's not usually like this and don't let the experience of this cruise think there all like this one.

I have read posts of people asking if there was a retractable roof on the ship as the ship facts state. There is NO retractable roof on the ship. It rained pretty much the entire time we were there and it rocked pretty much non stop till last night. We were unable to go the route we were supossed to because of the weather.

Cleanliness of the ship was a bit to be desired. Yes the ship is new and it was beautiful, but some of the things I came across pretty much grossed me out. Last night when I went to look at the pictures we had done, my mother went to sit down at a bench and it was covered in vomit. Pretty gross., We told 3 crew members and 30 minutes later it was still there. Someone had also vomited in an elevator and that was not cleaned up right away either. To give you an idea of how many sick people were aboard. They had barf bags at the elevators for guests.

Last night we went to the review show Dancin' in the Street, I will say that was the best show I have ever seen on a ship. When the show was complete it was given a standing ovation. It was really that good.. For those going on this cruise, Don't miss this show, It's well worth seeing. There is a comedy club on the Dream as well. There were 2 comedians and both were very good.

To sum up my weekend on the Dream, Friday sucked really bad, and it did get better by the afternoon yesterday. I guess you could blame the weather for alot of the bad parts, but for all the marketing they did for this ship it really wasnt all that much different then the other ships appearance wise except for the size. The hallways in the guest areas were smaller. The doors to get into the rooms were smaller. There wasnt an actual sports bar like on other ships. There really was not alot of the activities you get on other cruises. I know this was a cruise to no where so there was not as much time on the ship but I was a little dissapointed by what was offered.

Having to take the bad with the good, It was nice having a weekend away, for the money I spent to go on this cruise where I could have done a 4 or 5 day on a different ship for the same amount, I would have chosen a different ship. The marketing of the Dream was well executed, I feel the delivery could have been executed better.

Roll Call 03/13/2010

Ok it's been awhile since there was a Roll Call.
We only went for 3 nights but I can tell you that along with the regular buffet at lunch they also had a Tandoori grill (good but spicy), Pizza (good but might have to wait 5 minutes to cook another one) Sandwich station (made to order list of hot and cold sandwiches...very good...I asked for just corned beef and once they sliced it and grilled it I took it into the buffet and put cole slaw and thousand island dressing on it) and the Grill which had hotdogs, hambugers, grilled chicken sandwiches and nachos and melted cheese on the side.

In the buffet they also had a burrito bar and a mongolian wok...I did not eat at the burrito bar but it seemed to be popular and the mongolian wok was fabulous! There is also a pasta bar upstairs that you can get pasta ordered your way.

For dinners we ate in the dining room and sometimes the menu had some things on it we weren't so sure about but what I like is each night they have certain things that don't change and those things were caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, grilled flat iron steak, roasted chicken and mahi mahi along with french fries and mashed potatoes. I did not try any of these as I was perfectly content with what we ordered off the menu (although I will say the only thing I ordered that I really didn't care for was the baked alaska...not flaming, takes away from it) My husband actually ordered the flat iron twice and got it medium and said it was great. And he loves his steak. One time he got the baked potato the next the mashed. I had the prime rib and the chateubriand and I thought both were very good. I always get my meat medium or medium rare and I can see the chateaubriand could get tough if you ordered it medium well.

Also I probably shoudln't tell you this or there won't be any when I go there but I will share this little secret with you. I am normally not a pastry eater on a cruise ship, they tend to be dry and flavorless but they have these little apple struedels that are absolutely awesome! SAVE SOME FOR ME!

So, you may not like everything you try or see but there should be more than enough to make up for it. Unfortunately we did not eat lunch or breakfast in the dining room as they only did it on one day of our cruise and in the AM we felt a bit ill and missed the breakfast and for lunch our daughter did not want to go there but this time we will eat there as many chances as we can get!

ROLL CALL 1/16/2010 "DREAM"

Who else is going on this cruise?

ROLL CALL 2-20-2010

Okay, ...... we just booked the 7 day cruise, February 20th cruise out of Port Canaveral yesterday!

Who else is going and what are you thoughts about this monster sized ship we'll be on?

Really looking forward to this trip!

The Dream At Port Canaveral

Will The Dream Have Any Type Of Ceremony At Port Canaveral?

Shore Excursion Question

I just checked our booking for the cruise and when checking the shore excursions we have booked I found that for the St. Thomas excursion we arrive at the port at 10:00am and our excursion leaves at 10:00am.. wow.. not sure what to do about this. Does anyone know if because I booked through the cruise line that they wait for all the people to disembark or will I have to cancel this tour and book something else. It is too bad that they don't post the times the shore tours leave before booking.

Help!!

Cheers
