Cabins or staterooms come in different categories, inside, oceanview, balcony and suites on Carnival.

Some duvets are not washable. It depends on the type you buy, just check the label. Some have to be dry cleaned. The insert does not have to be a down comforter (which is full of feathers...hence down) it can be and usually is just a comforter. Some of these need to be dry cleaned also. Make sure you check the labels before you buy if you want the washable kind.

No not all Balcony cabins are Suites. Most balcony cabins are classed as 8 a,b,c,d, (like Interior are 4's, Ocean Views ar 6's). Suites are categoy 11 & 12. Look at what were were booked on.Hope this helps

I think it did, I looked on our booklet from our documents and it said Category 8D, so I'm guessing it was a stateroom. Wow, are suites bigger? Ours seemed a nice size! I've heard so much about rooms being so small. Neither my hubby or myself thought it was. Plus, while the bathroom was small, it was the best laid out bathroom we'd ever seen and we'd actually talked about it.

Ok. So, I'm thinking we stayed in a stateroom and I go with the New Generation Pillows, unless someone from Carnival corrects me. Thanks, again. Take care.

Thank you, kindly. I did have trouble with one thing -- the hot tubs We took the Private Island Snorkel tour on Antigua and I snorkeled the whole time. I took a white T shirt I wore so I wouldn't get burned. I just never thought of the backs of my thighs! lol OUCH! The hot tubs by the main pool were okay, but the hot tubs by the adult pool were too hot; I wouldn't even sit down! [:'(] Two days later when we did the Power Snorkel on Nassau, I not only wore a white T shirt, I wore white shorts. LOL

I've slept on a few hotel beds that make me feel like I've been beat up the next morning. I've slept on floors more comfortable than some of the beds they put in moderately priced hotels.

I hear you there! I have, too. I think you will sleep like a baby on your cruise, we did!

A balcony cabin is considered a stateroom. The insert can normally be spot cleaned and in some cases dry cleaned. It will state as to how it can be cleaned on its tag. Really as long as you don't spill some type of liquid on it then it should not need to be cleaned. We use ours only in the winter because it is too hot in Texas in the summer for anything heavier than a sheet. Even if you use it all year the insert should not need to be cleaned very often. That is the nice thing about having the duvet, so easy to clean. I'm glad it is comfortable, I've slept on a few hotel beds that make me feel like I've been beat up the next morning. We were in a balcony cabin. That was our first cruise. Are all balcony cabins called suites? So you can wash the duvet, but how would you clean the insert? Even my husband was impressed enough about the comfort to comment and he really usually doesn't.

If you look at the title of the New Generation pillow it says stateroom and the Soft & Downey says suite. So it would depend on what type of room you were in. If you were in a regular stateroom it would be the New Generation and if it was a suite you stayed in the Soft and Downey. I don't think that Carnival uses the kings on their ships. It is more accommodating to their guests if they can be put together or taken apart. I'm sure it will be just as comfortable. It should be the exact same thing except larger. Having a duvet is awesome! The duvet insert is what you'd normally call a down comforter. The duvet is on the outside like a giant pillow case so that you can protect the insert. The duvet can be washed. If you'd rather have another color than the white they offer you can find a duvet just about anywhere bedding is sold. They come in all kinds of colors, patterns, etc. Just like comforters do. I got mine at Target and got the matching pillow shams. I'm just glad that the beds are so comfortable. My bed is SO incredibly comfortable at home and I don't think they'll let me bring my mattress with me on the cruise so I'm have high hopes for the bed in our stateroom. Good luck convincing your husband!

My husband and I just returned from our first cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and it was great. We saw San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua, Tortola, and Nassau -- or at least a little of each. We also had some great excursions. By the way, the shows were fantastic!

I'd booked a balcony cabin and we were on the Freedom on the Veranda deck, midship. It was wonderful!

I absolutely could not believe how well we both slept. I have some back problems and have not slept well for a couple of years, until this cruise. I desperately need to know how I can find out, for sure, how I can get this bedding at home.

I found the online store and found bedding. How do I know if I had the New Generation Pillow, or the Soft & Downey? Also, how do I know if I had standard or king size? There were four pillows on the bed and I'm thinking they must have been standard, but it seems there is a major difference between the New Generation and the Soft & Downey. I don't want to order the wrong thing.

Also, I've never had a duvet. Can I assume the duvet had the insert in it for our cruise? Do they even use them without an insert? Does anyone? Hey, I feel dumb asking, but I've never had one. I am definitely going to order pillows and the duvet and insert.

I know that they put two twin beds together, but see that Carnival sells mattress and box springs in king size (which is what we have now). That bed was so comfortable! We actually just got a tempurpedic, but if I can talk my husband into it, I'd like to get the mattress and box springs, too. OK. Another dumb question. What is the chance that the king size mattress will be as comfortable? The only reason I'm asking is because, does anyone ever really sleep on the king size? Is it in any of the Carnival cabins?
