NEVER NEVER Cruise CARNIVAL AGAIN

We had chosen our destinations VERY CAREFULLY. I had already been to Nassau and Cancun. We wanted to go somewhere we had never been before. Carnival had a cruise to Grand Cayman/Jamaica. We WERE ELATED.We checked in our baggage and parked our car.Checked in for the cruise when a letter was handed out stating that the itin. had been changed due to a prob.with the ship.We would no longer go to Jamaica/Grand Cayman.We would be visiting Nassau/Freeport.The letter also stated they were giving us 20% off our next cruise with Carnival.STUNNED,CONFUSED,

UPSET, FRUSTRATED.We had taken time off work, paid for Jamaica and we were getting Nassau,all Carnival can say is We will give you 20% off your next cruise? REALLY?WHAT?Well we got onboard.This was our 1st cruise.We didn’t know what to do.Ship went to the Keys.And just sat on the ship wondering WHY?Why us? Then some people said.They refunded money in Miami. WHAT?The letter said nothing about get a refund.I could have drove home and went back to work.I went to the information desk.BOY, was that a mistake.THEY WERE RUDE!And I guess they had ALOT of angry people to deal with, long lines.they said,If you want any refund then refuse the gratuity.I stood there thinking.HOW can a LARGE corporation like carnival say.Get a refund by not tipping our staff.HOW SAD is that?RUDE!DISRESPECTFUL!After telling them how wrong they were.I stepped away and decided I would try to make the "Best of the WORSE" FIRST cruise experience that I could. And I know they didn't have any control over the weather but we were unable to do the shore excursion planned because it was raining hard so they cancelled them.

I know things happen but it could have been a much better cruise and I would have still been disappointed but would have considered cruising with with Carnival again because they did the right thing and refunded the difference in price from the cruise I paid for and the cruise I got. But Carnival chose to be greedy and not only suggested that I not tip the wait staff but also refused to refund any money... Instead offering 20% off the next cruise...lol... I can find deeper discounts than that online.. NO THANKS Carnival you will not get my business again

I was wondering if anyone who has boarded early, was your room ready? On the Valor, i don't think we got to our room until 2:30-3:00. This year we will be on a higher deck (Panorama), any idea if this will make a difference.

Of course we can gain some back DURING the cruise.

I've heard we can bring a bottle of wine on board. Is this true? Does it have to be wine? Could it be like a bottle of Rum or something like that? I'm a drinker...just not so much a wine drinker. I mean, I'll drink it but I prefer something with a little higher octane. And I like to save a few bucks, because I know I am going to rack up a bit of a drink tab. Tee hee hee. Last time I sailed--back in 2000--I don't remember anything about bringing anything on board but some bottled water but that was before the glories of the internet and handy-dandy forums like these!!

We are sailing next Monday, November 23 on the Cooking Turkey Boycott Cruise (not the official name--just what I like to call it!) out of Galveston. I'll be the one singing some 'Shania white-trash karaoke' to quote my Sigma sister Carrie Underwood.

Minor Children

I need to know if anyone has ever traveled with a minor child with just one parent. Did you have a signed letter that was notorized from the absent parent? And what if you cannot find the other parent (deadbeat) were you able to get off the ship in Mexico (or any other port) My stepson (the minor's dad) is going on the cruise with his wife and 2 other children. We are leaving Jan 3rd 2010 44 days away. HELP!! I need input!!

Panama Canal Excursion

Can anyone help me? My family is going to Colon, Panama in April 2010. We want to do the panama canal excursion. it is an 8 hour excursion that starts at 7am. We dock at 7am until 4. This is offered through the carnival website but iam concerned about the time issue. Has anyone done this? Or does anyone have any other reccommendations? Thanks, Jerome

Anyone with a favorite cabin location? Front/back of ship--higher/lower deck? How about a balcony on the 7th or 8th floor? Do you feel 'motion' on any floor? Any 'bad' locations with balconies?? How is the wind on the sides of the ship-- on a balcony?

Hello,can anybody tell me if you can get your food to go out of the main dinning room. Nobody in our party wants to dress and they just like to eat at the buffet. I would like to eat the food from the dinning room and was wondering if you could get it to go and I could take it in the buffet and eat with the rest of my party. If I can how do I go about doing it.

Rm. 6473 on Conquest?

Has anyone ever stayed in room 6473 on the Conquest? On the Deck Plan map the room is shaped a bit differently and the balcony looked a bit bigger. Also, do you get more movement at the back of the ship? I am also kind of looking at room 6207 which is at the front of the ship. It looks a bit bigger on the Deck Plan. Which one would you all choose? I thank you all in advance for your advice !
