I wanted to let you know how my families first cruise went.

1.
When I made my reservation, I was told that my infant son could use the baby
pool on the Ecstasy, however we found out that he could not once we boarded the
ship. I am reporting this because I had a option to take a vacation at
another location, and I was promised with supposed supervisor approval that my
son could swim in the baby pool. My family was disappointed by the lack
of integrity of the reservation specialist that booked our trip because she
lied.

2.
We all caught the norovirus while sailing.

This
will be the last cruise we take on carnival. It was the first vacation
we've had in 6 years, and I am so disappointed that we were lied to, and then
after not being able to swim as a family (which is really the only thing you
can do with an infant on ship) we all go sick. Horrible experience with
Carnival. We will make sure to tell everyone we meet what happened to
us. Absolutely horrible.

I have just returned from a Cruise to Cozumel on the Carnival Esctasy.

I have been on 6 previous Carnival Cruises to numerous destinations and of different durations, and have always had an amazing time.

Because of this, we recommended that our company celebrate it's 20th Annivesary celebration aboard a carnival cruise, and my company booked 36 on this cruise.

The cruise was absolutely awful.

The First Huge problem was the food.

The food on the Lido deck the first day was terrible. The stuffed tomatoes appeared to be stuffed with the bean soup of the day. And every item seemed to be made of similar ingredients and leftovers from previous meals.

I got food poisoning from this meal, that wound up ruining my entire cruise!

I spent the balance of the cruise throwing up in my cabin on the Empress Deck.

The few rare times I was able to make it out of my cabin, once to the dining room, I was very sorry, for there were so many food additives, preservatives, and meat tenderizors (msg), added to the food that I got a migraine after just 2 bites, sending me double reeling back to my state room with the completely upset digestive system and a migraine added to the mix.

I was so weak near the end of the cruise that my husband insisted I eat something, and suggested we try a place we have not previously eaten at, the grill. "What could they do to a cheese burger?" my husband inquired. Well, they added more food additives or msg or something, because, again, I got a migraine after two bites of their cheese burger.

In all fairness, I am sensitive to chemical additives and artificial sweetners added to food, and avoid them. But, I have never had a problem with Carnival's food in the past. The food has always been freshly prepared with quality ingredients in the past, so I felt very safe eating on board, and saw no need to bring my own food along on the cruise.

What a mistake and a suprise it was to find the food so heavily laced with chemical additives.

I was hearing a lot of complaints on this cruise from many many other passengers about the food. The food was pretty terrible. I can with confidence compare the food on the Esctasy to a very low grade cafeteria.

The same sauces were used in many of the dishes whether vegetable or meat. the same items repeated numerous times from day to day. There seemed to be little variety offered. The same few deserts were offered night after night, with no variety or diversity. And none of them were the famose signiture deserts offered in the past.

The recipes used to prepare the food in the dining room have definitely changed too! Certainly none were offered from Carnival's recipe's from their famose dining room cook bood. The food was truely terrible.

I cook better here at home than we got on board this cruise.

The change in the qaulity and lack of diversity in the food alone was enough to convince me that this was indeed my last Carnival Cruise!

But the problems did not stop here.

The boat was opperating on just one engine, and one stabilizer.

The ride was incredibly rough and rocky. I asked the Carnival Employees and ships crew repeatedly what was up with the rough ride.

I rode through a tropical storm on a cruise to the Bahamas that was smoother.

The carnival crew repeatedly all said all was well.

Well all was not well, and we paying American Customers are not idiots! And we do not like being treated like we are, as you cover up obvious problems like they did not exist.

The sea sick bags were widely used on this cruise.

I am insulted that I was not told ahead of time and given a chance to refuse to board a broken ship. Thank goodness the only working engine did not overheat and seize while we were in the middle of the gulf, stranding the boat.

In the very least I would have liked to prepare myself for the rough ride that cruising with one stabilizer was going to create, let alone one engine.

The staff was not very accomodating on this cruise. I had numerous people sailing in our large group experience continuing and ongoing problems that on other cruises would have never happened, or had crew members happy to assist with.

I am now back on shore, but unable to return to work as I am still dealing with the effects and weakened state from the food poisoning I experienced from the Food offered on the Lido deck.

Carnival has definitlly succeeded in cutting a lot of corners while finding ways to cut costs, the result though is not a quality cruise, for Carninval has now taken the fun out of Sailing.

The Liberty-difficult to maneuver onboard

We just returned from our July 18-25 Eastern Caribbean cruise on The Liberty. The cruise was terrific...great time! The ship itself, however, is another matter. We've sailed before, but we never experienced the difficulty in getting around onboard as we did on The Liberty. There was no attempt at helping passengers navigate the decks or locate activities onboard. There were a lot of passenger complaints about this. What was most difficult was the elevators frequently opened to "dead ends" with absolutely no signs or directions for passengers to find their way!! It was extremely difficult and frustrating to travel on The Liberty. While I'd sail with Carnival again, I would not sail on The Liberty again.

Screen saver

How do I download the screen saver off of the "funshipisland" sight.

Carnival Cruise Line is NOT for families

We were guests on the Carnival Imagination that sailed on 2/23 out of Miami. We had a good time, food was good and the staff was very accommodating and friendly... with one VERY BIG exception, the kids club "Camp Carnival".

Our girls are 9 and 5 and on the 2nd day our asked to go to the open play session so they could check the kids club out. When we dropped them off and registered them around 10:00 am they were the only 2 kids there. We were a little surprised but our kids were excited to try it and with four counselors we figured they would get lots of attention. We returned to pick them up an hour and a half later to have them race back to us close to tears and tell us they were never going back. They informed us that the counselors wouldn't let them paint or color or play on the computers. Since they were the only two they had them watch a movie the entire time. Since Carnival does not provide pagers as other cruises do our kids could not page us to come back and pick them up.

The cruise was very nice but the Lido deck activities are clearly adult focused and since it was two windy most of the time for the water slide or putt putt that was our only option to swim and play with our kids amongst the adult activities. The evening shows and activities were all adult focused (PG-17 rated).

In the past we have taken a Disney Cruise and the kids club was 110% better. The activities had a much wider range - luau party nights, cookie baking and treasure hunts to name a few. Our kids were younger and BEGGED us to go to the kids club. Much of the time my husband and I would hang out and watch the festivities (we were made to feel very welcome) and the counselors interacted with the kids constantly. While there were adult focused activities and shows on board there were equal amounts of family shows and activities.

As I said, the cruise was nice and the staff very friendly but I would not recommend Carnival for a family trip. Go Disney.

Why are we not going to Mexico you might ask? Well I don't know! I bought a ticket that says Mexico but we are going to Catalina. Growing up in California I have been a ton of times to Catalina. Not only that I have to drive all the way to Long Beach to go to Catalina. (I live in Hollywood) I hope I don't bump into any of my parents friends that live on the island. I would hate to waste my day hanging out with old folks. Oh wait that's what Catalina is a island for the old or romantic, not the young and ready to have fun crowd. That would be Mexico the place I paid to go too. Papas and Beer will be missed this year. By the way did I mention that I have been going on this same cruise for the pass 8 years with parties of 10-30 people and have had a blast every year in MEXICO. But I guess not this year. The food was great and you could get a second of anything. Our waiter Ozay was wonderful. All the waiters sing and act silly during the meal.
The evening shows were very professional and had live orchestra's playing. We were pleasantly surprised to have a country singer DeWayne who was very good- we to see him nearly every night and got people dancing.
The excursions are too short, it's alot of rushing around. It would be better to go to fewer islands and spend more time on them.
Daytime on the boat while traveling is boring. The pools are too small and crowded to swim.
They need more entertainment, music and games. (take some clues from the all inclusive island resorts)
The bathrobe party night, was porely planned. There was suppose to be a contest, I do not know what is was!? The should have a contest for the most unique bathrobe look. If I hear let's scream one more time - i will shoot someone.
Overall we were treated well, the rooms were always clean with fresh towels, and the food was great and wonderful live music at night.

just got back from my cruise

just got back last weekend from my honeymoon cruise to Cozumel Mexico on the Fantasy. I was not impressed with excursion to Blackbeard's Beach. A very small private island and not much of a snorkeling area.

I loved Half Moon Cay, a longer day there would have been wonderful!!!!!!

Turks was also a pretty island even thought it is still recovering from hurricane IKE.

Margaretiville with the pool and beach accessability right from the ship was excellent again a longer stay would have been great.

The only disapointment was with dinners. Our waiter was very quite and didn't get the orders right at times also had to wait for drink service almost when dinner was finished.

I thought the quality and amount was cut down and not a large variety to choose for dessert.

I might just do dinner on Lido deck if this happens again. I did not get a comment card to fill out either, thus I'm writting the above comments

Disappointed and Disgruntled in New Orleans

We are writing Carnival to express our disappointment in our experience we had aboard the FANTASY on October 4, 2008. We were told that this trip would be the maiden voyage of the FANTASY after a total refurbishment.

We have taken several cruises on both the Carnival Cruise Lines and the Norweigan Cruise Lines, but this one was by far the most disappointing of all cruises.

We were with a group of 32 family and friends aboard the FANTASY and all were very excited to get this group together for a once in a lifetime vacation cruise together. Most of the group of 32 were first time cruisers. We spoke highly of the experience and promised a wonderful trip for everyone.

This trip was also a gift to our grandson for his 21st birthday. We wanted to share in his first experience of a cruise.

Imagine the anticipation and excitement we all had as we boarded the FANTASY. That excitement did not last long.

There were so many problems on this cruise that we believe in our opinion that the FANTASY was just not ready to leave the dock.

We will attempt to list all of the problems we experienced one by one:

1. BOARDING THE SHIP:

Our first concern occurred upon boarding the ship. There was scaffolding set up and crew members frantically working on laying carpet. Many areas were roped off as construction crews were touching up paint or cleaning up. Not a good sign. At one point, there were people in the hot tub while there were workers working on the hot tub.

2. ROOM KEY:

Our room key did not work. We had to get a new key before we could even get into our room.

3. BLACK SOOT:

We were told that there was a small problem with some pipes and maintenance was being performed, which caused black soot to come out of the air conditioning vents. This black soot was covering everything in the room and we were told that all the beds had to be remade after our room stewards had prepared our cabins. For the rest of the week we found black dust balls throughout the room.

4. THE SHIP'S DEPARTURE FROM THE DOCK:

The FANTASY was scheduled to depart New Orleans at 4:00 p.m. One of the most exciting events aboard a cruise ship leaving New Orleans is to watch the ship as it turns around in the River and travel down the mouth of the Mississippi River. We were very anxious to share in this experience with our grandson. But never got the chance. The FANTASY did not leave the dock in New Orleans until midnight and needless to say, you could not see anything in the River. This was very disappointing to us.

5. FOUL ODOR:

By the next morning there was a strong, foul odor permeating the hallways. During the morning meeting in the theater, I noticed many of our family and friends covering their mouth and nose to get through Big Tex's presentation. I endured the odor but it got worse as the week went on. Many times we could smell it in our cabin. The only escape was to stay on the pool deck.

6. THE MOST DISORGANIZED SAFETY MUSTER PROCEDURES I HAVE EVER BEEN A PART OF:

When it was time for the safety muster, we were told to report to a specific area but then we were relocated to another area of the ship. I do not even think the crew knew where we were really suppose to be.

7. HELD UP IN COZUMEL:

We were held up in Cozumel boarding the ship. Apparently, there was a fire on board the ship. This did not sit well with some of our nervous first time cruisers. I'm sure that safety of the passengers was the first concern, but understand how guests felt after all the other problems had been encountered. We received a letter under our door to this effect when we were finally able to board the FANTASY. (A copy is enclosed for your ready reference).

8. SHORT STAFFED:

There were several parts of the ship that we could not locate any staff members at several different times.

9. ICE MACHINES:

While on the pool deck, we enjoyed buckets of beer but never seemed to have ice to keep them cold. We were told by the staff that the ice machines were down.

10. BUFFET LINES:

The buffet lines pool side and in the dining areas were slow and did not flow well. There always seemed to be an issue with silverware and condiments. Many mornings the juice machines would spew thick juice concentrate and quickly become "out of order." At our evening meals you were lucky to find a salt shaker that was filled. Our entire table was empty at times.

11. POOL SLIDE:

The slide was broke for most of the trip.

12. TV REMOTES:

None of the TV remotes in our cabins had batteries.

CONCLUSION:

Some of these complaints would seem petty when presented separately, but, with this many, it adds up to a disappointing experience.

We had 32 people in our group and were very much looking forward to this cruise. The whole experience was very disappointing to us and left a bad taste for Carnival Cruise Lines in our mouth.

We were undecided if we should write to Carnival Cruise Lines and voice our complaints, but decided that if we were ever to go on another Carnival Cruise we should express our concerns, disappointments and experience, and also so you could alleviate the problems for future cruisers.

Although we did not have a good experience with the Carnival FANTASY, we did want to express how our room stewards and wait staff did an excellent job. I am sure they were frustrated with all of the problems as well, however, they remained gracious, pleasant and accommodating.

We asked many of our friends if they would cruise again. Most said they would give it another chance, but most likely on another cruise line. Would we cruise again? Absolutely. With Carnival? If we were assured the problems we experienced on this cruise were alleviated and our next cruise experience would be more enjoyable.

Thank you for your time. We are,

Disappointed and Disgruntled in New Orleans,

First I think the Funship Island website is miss leading to those who are going on the Glory. If someone could clarify if the Glory actually has the Carnival Water Works and the Twister Waterslide. I know it has the Twister Waterslide. But we were wondering if the Glory also featured the Carnival Water Works. This is the way a person viewing the website sees it. However, when I called Carnival person, they told me this was not on the Glory.

Could someone out there help me? We are taking our two children with us for the first cruise of their lifetimes and we do not want to mis lead them.

We were told that ESPN was available on the ship (very misleading). Most passengers would like to have American ESPN just to relax and enjoy our sports. This is part of the fun on the fun ships. Even a sports bar would have been great!
