That was over 6 weeks ago and now it's less than 3 weeks until departure and I still can't book any Carnival shore excursions online. The only answer I get is to keep on trying with not even an estimate of when they might become available. We do have some private excursions scheduled but would like to book one in Belize that we can't find privately through Carnival. Any suggestions?

Carnival Dream - 10/15 - 10/27/09

First let me say that overall the cruise was good. This was the third cruise for this new ship. Our room was on deck 6 directly above the Encore Room. We could hear the performances just as well in our room as we could in the Encore Room. We also got to listen to rehearsals. Not good as my wife was ill for a couple sea days (flu not sea sick) and the noise didn't help. Seems like more sound proofing between the Encore Room and the suites on the deck above would have been appropriate. Breakfast in the Scarlet Room was like a training session. The service was slow and we had to repeatedly ask for more coffee, water and juice. Seems like the waiters could see that cups were empty and ask if a refill was wanted. The breakfast food was generally okay. We expected the baked apples to be warm (or hot) and they were cold. The eggs benedict looked and tasted like they sat under a heat lamp for a long time. The breakfast on the Lido deck was much better. For a ship with over 3000 passengers more laundry rooms would have been appreciated by a large group of people. If this ship is not going to do 12 day cruises any longer and will be doing 7 day or less then forget the comment about the laundry rooms. For future consideration longer cruises could use more laundry facilities, in my opinion. We tried the dine anytime room (Crimson Room) once. We were there over two hours trying to get our dinner. We decided that we would not do that agian. The waiter did apologize over and over about the slow serive but that doesn't help after the first 90 minutes. The food was good however. On the 6th floor near the front of the ship there was a sewer smell the entire cruise. Some days were worse than others. I did report this to guest services and they indicated that they were aware of the problem. It was some sort of technical problem. I'm not sure what that means but at the very least some sort of spray could have been used to lessen the odor. While the service from our dinner wait staff was good and the food was good, it was not always hot or in some cases even warm. More than once food was sent back because it was just warm or was cold. The kitchen staff should not be sending food to the tables that is not hot. Our waiter did the best he could with what he had to work with. On this particular cruise on the way to Barcelona we ran into a bad storm. The captain turned the ship around and headed out of harms way. We missed one port of call however we were in Monaco longer than scheduled. That was great on two counts. Missed the worst part of the storm and got to stay longer in Monaco. Those were both pulses. The service on the Lido deck from the folks cleaning the tables was not too good. They were not very fast in clearing tables and there was a lot of standing around while dirty tables were clearly in plain sight.

Seems to me for a shake down cruise the staff should have been some of your more experienced. As you are well aware it is the little things that make the biggest difference. Anyone can put out good food. If the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is hot that makes the difference, Our experience on our Alaska cruise last fall (2008) was a terrific experience with Carnival. For us that cruise will be our comparison cruise. I'm sure (at least hopeful) that we will have another experience like that one or an even better experience on Carnival.

Thank you.

Carnival ecstacy

My large family and I sailed on 9-14-09. When we boarded the ship I was a little disaponted with the ship it's self. The brosure was misleading. After the first day ( wasn't bad) is when every thing started to fall apart. First, the slide at the pool had a hight restriction of 48". That is a large roller coster restriction!!!! Also you could not drink anything in the pool. Second, after the captains cocktails(great!!) we had dinner. The lobster was great, the steak not so much, you would think serving a cold steak would not happen with fine dinning but it did. We had several issues with the food ( minus the fried stuff). Third, there was a foul oder commjng from the hall like sewer. The ship crew were trying to locate the problem, but I don't think they were successful. Fourth, the shows the ship offered we sad. Only one persons was worth the time and effert to see he was part of the embarcation preformanse and had an adults only show after the captains cocktail. Last and worst, on the day of dissembarcation we had breakfast then went back to our room to get the last of our luggage to find the crew in masks and resperators dissasembling the hallway. They had light fixtures on the ground, wall art and information signs on the ground and screws and nails all over the floor. This made it not only hard for us to push the stroller and carry the rest of our things off the ship but all the dust in the air was a health risk. This ships sail date was the last one before going to drydock to be fix up for future sail dates. I was discused that my family had to experience this kind of neglect with a carnival ship. I think carnival should allow the passengers of this ship to return and experiece the cruise the right way. We called to complain about our time on the cruise but carnival has yet to send us an appology or any correspondance relating to the issues. We will never travel with carnival again if they do not own there mistake!

We would like to set up our shore excursions because we realize that we already booked late and don't want any of our picks to be filled up. When I go to "My Cruise" or "My Reservation" to book them, I get an error that says :

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

     * This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
          cookies.

My cookies are enabled, they have been cleared numerous times, I have tried with 3 different internet browsers, 2 different computers, and a proxy- so it appears to be something on Carnivals end.

I emailed Carnival yesterday, no response. I called today and the person gave me a number to call the shore excursion tech line on Monday because the only way to book excursions is through the website, not over the phone (not that we want to book over the phone- we just want to see a list of what we can do!).

Does any one know a work-around to get to the excursion booking page or does anyone from Carnival know when this is going to be fixed? I would hate to miss out or have to book from the ship in the huge waiting line...

Luggage Express... NO!! Luggage Lost...
The food on board was average at best!!.. Shore Excursions way over priced. The constant baggering to buy alcoholic drinks. And to be charged for Soda and Juice ridiculous. Don't forget, that you are automatically charged a grautity for almost everything. Room Cleaning, any beverage purchase, dining room service all have automatic gratuities included, regardless of how good or poor the service may have been. On our trip the best service came from low men/women on the totem pole. The lady who cleaned our room an the bus boy for our dining room were the most pleasant and caring crew members we met the entire trip.

This will be the last time I will ever, ever take a cruise with Carnival. If you want a leisurely vacation without the hassles and worries, book an all-inclusive resort on one of the caribbean islands. You can drink as much as you want, eat as much as you want and go on excursions for less than what they charge on the cruise ship. All of the resorts have HUGE swimming pools, great beaches, exerciose facilities, and SPAs that put the cruise line spa to shame as well as nightclubs on the resort premises. You can shop at local shops for souvenirs eat at local dining places, and even enjoy some of the night life the island has to offer.

Never book shore excursions before you sail!!!!!!!!!

I have received a huge disappointment today on 11/3/09 because for some reason e-solutions at carnival & the refund department had a gliche on my shore excursions cancelations on 10/21/09. I Cruise in 26 days, and I am already disappointed in how Carnival handles refunds on shore excursions. I am a first time cruiser with my husband and he and I are furious before sailing. These excursions equal up to about $ 300 and yet to be refunded. I spoke to an Angelica at e-solutions for Carnival and she said to call 800-845-2599 within 48 hrs for issue with refund. I have called in the past 3 days and I would think a RED FLAG should have been issued by now on these refunds. I will never pre-book a shore excursion again (I WILL BE ON THE BOAT BEFORE I EVER CRUISE AGAIN TO BOOK EXCURSIONS). "VERY BAD COMMUNICATION IN THESE DEPARTMENTS, I THINK A UPGRADE IS NEEDED SINCE WE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON A CRUISE"

Don't sail carnival !!!! Mind you this is our 9th cruise but our first and LAST with Carnival. We booked the best room they had, a hugh suite that was very nice. The only problem was it stunk like cigarette smoke. I hate the smell of cigarettes and my 8 year old has asthma. When I booked this cruise I was told smoking was only permitted in certain areas. When I was on the ship people were smoking everywhere. In there rooms and in the hallways. It was gross. When I complained I was told they have rights as well. So everynight my family and I slept or tried to smelling smoke. Then to top it off we all got food posioning. It was HORRIBLE!.. The worst part as we all were vomiting and stuck in our rooms was that the crew could care less. I called the nurse for some meds and was told I was better off not getting assistance due to the fact we would be reported to the CDC and have trouble getting off the ship. This entire cruise was a nightmare and when I tell you that from the CEO down to customer service they could care less about your satisfaction. This cruise line is sub-standard compared to NCL or Royal. The ship is dirty the crew is rude and uncaring and I would not sail with them even if it was for free!

Carnival.com restricts/limits cabin selections?

When I go to make a reservation for another cruise, doing it on-line at Carnival.com, it only seems to offer just 10 or so cabins to pick from, in a particular category.

I am quite sure that for a cruise that about a year out, there must be more than just those 10 cabins still available.

Is there any way to confirm if I am correct? That there are more cabins than just the 10 offered, and if so, how to I go about reserving one of those?

The problem is that the 10 cabins being offered are all clustered together, on one part of the deck. I would like a cabin in another part of the deck. And yes, I am talking about cabins in the same category.

The Dream

Anyone out there sailed on the dream? This was our first cruise. When we got the pier we were handed a slip of paper that stated the itinery had been changed due to propulsion problems and that we will be going to Key West and the Bahamas instead. Talk about not being happy. I had researched the ports in the Caribbean for over a year and I wasn't prepared to go to the Bahamas, neither was 2700 outher people. At the bottom of the notice was a note that stated that due to the inconvenience of this Carnival offered each person 20% off a future cruise. What a joke. The cruise line should have offered something more, something that we could have used while we were on the ship. I have always heard how great the food and service was on the ship and I never experienced that either. The service in the main dining room sucked, I never knew our waiters name, nor did he do anything to make us feel special, at least not our table, he was spending much of his time with the other tables. My husband ordered a glass of port wine with his dessert and never received it, instead we had to go to the Onyx Bar and got waited on by a wonderful waiter, his name is Matthew. He was more attentive than our waiter at dinner. The food was not what I expected it wasn't the lavish food I had been hearing about, I could of made better. My husband was wanting a simple hanburger, and everytime we would go to get one, the place was closed. When we wanted pizza, we had to wait for the guy to come from the back, and he was rude. The food at the buffet was the worse thing, the selection was terrible and it was cold most of the time. The elevators were always broke down, and it would take forever to get one to come to our floor. During the Captain's Celebration we never saw the Captain, I never knew who he was. We were going to see the late night comedy show one night, and we could not get in to save us, it was so packed. The other highlight of the cruise was Christian & Stepahnie, the destination shopping specialists, they were the most helpful people on the entire cruise. When we wanted something in any of the ports they knew where to get the best and we were very grateful for them. Our cabin steward was also good, our cabin was kept clean and he keep us stocked in ice and ammenities. I am throughly disappointed with Carnival and I will NEVER take a cruise with this line again and the 20% off of my next cruise, well, they can take it and put it where the sun don't shine. I am telling all my friends and family that Carnival is a cheap waste of time and I wouldn't waste my money on it.

Past Guest issues

It would seem to me that since I have sailed at least 6 times on Carnival, that the "Past Guest" price would be less than a newbie or at least the same price with an upgrade. NOT THE CASE!!! I can book Early Saver at the bottom of the boat as a newbie fairly inexpensive, but the same room as a past guest with an upgrade option is almost 150.00 to 200.00 more per person... What planet does this make sense on???? And when I told the CSR that I could go to a different cruise line to get a newbie deal she just said " OK"!!!! Seems Carnival doesn't care about the past guest

sailed the Victory 10/11/09-10/18/09

Sailed with Carnival many times, never complained. This cruise however was my worst cruise ever. And this would include all other cruises, on other cruise lines. The staff was overwhelmed. I sat with dirty dishes on my table for at least twenty min. By mid week I started asking waiter's to please take my plate. I even had a waiter stand on line and tell me to wait for dinner lunch was now over. With people on line and food still out I couldn't understand why I couldn't get a piece of fish. Also before breakfast was over they turned off the orange juice dispenser. I asked the bartender for a glass of juice, he gladly gave it to me and asked for my room pass to charge me. I said, I will not pay for juice thats free. He said its only free in the morning, this is the afternoon. And with that being said, he took it back and emptied it in the sink. The cabin steward left my cabin door open twice. The omelet guy let people order four to five omelets and a time. So my wait for a omelet was at least 35 to 40 minutes long. You also couldn't count on a cup being out for coffee and a glass out for water. Staff walked by and acted as if they didn't noticed there weren't any. I should be happy because sometimes a found a cup, but then it wasn't any coffee ready. I could go on and on but I won't. Just glad I'm back home. Wow and I used to love Carnival.

International Customer Complaint. re: website errors

On Monday, 13th my travelling companion made a purpose trip to my house so we could book our cruise. We couldn't book getting the following error: "9000 : Carnival has returned an unexpected response condition code. Contact CCL support desk @ (800) 845-2599."

So it was a total waste of time. I tried again on Tuesday and got the same error.

I was emailed by a Carnival customer service representative. They said they could book it on my behalf. Over the course of 3 days and many emails back and forth it was booked. I was told to promptly pay the deposit.

I went into my online profile and I had no booking. I worked out how to add it using the booking number I was given. I went to make payment and no matter what address I put in I got errors:

I put in my Australian address: "Error: Address Validation is only for US and Canada. "

I put in the address that the customer service representative had used for my booking (address in miami florida) and got: "Error: Mailing Address is invalid. Please enter a correct Mailing Address. "

I put in an address for a hotel I am staying in L.A and got: "Error: Mailing Address is invalid. Please enter a correct Mailing Address."

How many errors do I have to get to make my booking? Its ridiculous. I'm a internet programmer so I'm not a novice computer user accounting for the errors. The errors are at your end and I can't understand why they wouldn't be fixed. I don't understand why you would have a list of all these countries when you won't let anyone from outside of the US and Canada book without being stopped by errors.

Also, on a usability aspect why isn't 'Other State' at the top of the dropdown list?

The annoying part is that my normal Australian address was accepted under my contact details in my profile. Yet when I entered them for payment, it wouldn't accept it.

I was told that I could send my details via email. Why would I sent my credit card details over an unsecure email? Is there no other way to accept payment on your website accept from your unusable payment form?

I was asked to ring Carnival to give my credit card details over the phone. Due to the time difference, it means I'm at work so I can't make international calls on my work phone. I asked if they could call me and sent my full number with country code and area code and got an email back asking me what my country code was? Seriously, I sent it already and said I was from Australia.

Now I get: "im trying to figure out how to call you, i will hold your reservation and try to call you tomorrow morning" what? you cant dial internationally? Tomorrow is a Saturday for me and the number I gave is my work number.

I could have booked through the Australian operator "Travel the World" but their website didnt offer any of the specials yours did and the cruise price was substantially higher. If you don't want International guests to book on your website you should specify so. You should not have the list of all world countries available.

I've previously been a customer of Royal Caribbean cruiselines and never had such an issue. What a total dissapointment. Having this sort of experience before I've even been able to book has left me severely wondering what the service is going to be like if I ever get on board.

Carnival Pride April 5-11----NEVER EVER AGAIN

I was so disgusted with the trip I had to call the headquarters and write letters. We did not get to see one of the islands that was on the itinerary due to the waves against the tenders. Ironically enough 3 other ships pulled right up to the pier and quest were getting off. We circled the island to attempt to dock never did. My husband and I were so upset, another whole day at sea.

The ship felt like a plane on a runway unable to take off the entire trip. The ride was horrible we felt every wave, bump or jolt the entire time and the weather was not even bad. When we first started out from Miami in the ship we were cruising at 18-19 knots. One morning I woke up around 2 in the morning and the monitor showed we were doing 28 knots, I felt like my whole body lifted out of the bed like I was falling.

To make matters worst we paid additional for the balcony and the 1st couple of days at sea had issues with the porters cleaning the balcony above ours and the water used to clean the balcony rolled right down on to our balcony. All on my husbands outfit and all on the towels we had on the chair. He was so upset we spent hours across the hall at the landry and paid $2 each to wash/rinse and dry his clothes and buy the cleaning agents.

Doesn't end there with the balcony ordeal matters get worst; a big hunk of ashes (cigar or sot) came down on my daughters head all in her hair and clothes. No dinner tonight because now i have to rush her to the shower to wash out whatever this is. Of course i call guest services.

In all cases guest services was notified and did little to nothing regarding the situations. Not as much as an apology for my child who has this unknown substance all over her, not to my husband for the unsuspecting water showere he received. I wasted my money to get my daughters hair done it was now messed up and i am livid. I was livid because i still don't know what it was that came down and if it could have some potential harm or any affect to my daughter. I feel completly humiliated that we spent all this money for this trip and still to date no results.

When i called the 800 number for carnival and explained the situation the young lady showed compassion and concern. she stated we would hear something by mail in 3-6 weeks. i guess i am one guest who would have prefered to speak to someone in managment at that point to explain to me something at that moment., but i was not given that option. I am not a complainer but this was a trip we had saved up for, for so far in advance and to come away with a vacation where i was stressed, confused and that was so uneventful is such a dissatisfaction to me as a person. At what point does it take a manager to have the respect, confidence to pick the telephone up and contact the guest to give some sort of assurance or comfort.

I am so disappointed in Carnival

Error message while trying to view documents

My cruise is in 94 days. When I go in to print my documents this message comes up

He was friendly and the music was great. We spent everynight at the club because of him. Second was Lawrence he was part of the onboard entertainment staff. He made sure we also had a good time everyday and night. Last our room attendents who were very good to us. Yasa and Duncan always had a smile on their faces and helped us everytime we got lock out of our room, which was several times. Its been almost two weeks and we can not stop talking about our vacation. We are already making our plans for our next trip on carnival. Thanks again the staff especially DJ Florin made it the best trip ever for us.

I had fun laying out and meeting people. I did Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica and met people that I had to help up the falls. I did the Dolphin Swim & Stingray City in Grand Cayman, which was my favorite, and I did Snorkling in Cozumel...which I don't recommend because the reef is all torn up and is just starting to come back. That was kinda disappointing

In Grand Cayman, Carnival upgraded about 4 of us to the swim with the dolphins at no charge. Don't ask me why...I don't know! I didn't complain! Pepe our dolphin was fabulous and the stingrays were doscil and fun to touch and feed. I was afraid that I was going to be the next Steve Erwin, but we all had a great time.

Don't do snorkeling on the Fury Catamaran in Cozumel. Pick something else. Pick anything else!

The boat is great. The geezer pool is in the back, and you can get some decent pizza back there 24 hours a day at the pizzaria The other pools are in the middle of the boat and stay out of the pool with children in diapers...ugh! Oh yeah, live a little and do the water slide.

The casino was a lot of fun. I learned to play blackjack in a week and I got pretty good at it. The entertainment was great. The food was good in the dining area. The buffett line was alright...the fruit was fresh, and they never messed up breakfast. The omelett preparer was nice, and then you have the Wok line where you pick your veggies and meat and sauce...that was hot and fresh! Oh yeah, and who can forget about the daily drink specials...they were strong and refreshing!

My only knock on Carnival is that they seated me with a married couple and a *** male couple at formal dining and I am single! I mean they were great, but it's like, why don't you bone heads sit singles with singles so we can mingle, duh!

Will I travel Carnival again...you bet!

[10 minutes prior to booking this all worked as normal.] T

Not to be accusatory, but this makes it seem that Carnival is intentionally making it difficult to track Price Drops for the 55+, Past Guest and Residency rates once you book Early Saver???

YES, there are (inconvenient) workarounds, but that's not the point.

Great shows at night and great children programs for all ages (kept them occupied . Our ports of call were Grand Turk, Half moon Cay and Nassau. Grand Turk and Half moon cay were awesome the most beautiful water ever seen. Great snorkeling . I recommend Reefs and Rays excursion at Grand turk, it was the highlight for us. Nassau not so great, hot crowded and smelly but good shopping. The ship was always on schedule to the ports. Overall great cruise experience. HELPFUL HINT If your driving into Baltimore port and need a hotel, stay at Hampton Inn airport on Elkridge dr. They offer special rate that will allow you to park and leave your car at the hotel for the week instead of paying $15.00 per day to park at the port and they have free shuttle service to the ship! Great deal!

Your web Page is poorly designed and hard to use

I've spend an hour looking for where I'm to print my luggage tags. When I finally found it the link is not working. This is the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced with Carnival. I've cruise several time with Carnival and this is not acceptabe and make me upset that I have another cruise already booked with you. Jim

Luggage Express

Ship: Destiny Sail Date: 09/21 thru 09/26, 2009

Luggage Express poorly organized. Those who had PAID for luggage express was to meet in the Onyx Lounge at 8:15 for our location. The lady from Customs and Immigration was late and directed us numerous times to the wrong locations...we went back and forth in the huge lines. What was supposed to be an express checkout turned into anything but... we still got stuck in the long lines... I thought that was luggage express was all about, and thats why we paid the extra money for this service.

We were told many times we were in the wrong place after our Guide abandoned us -- no where to be found -- and was picked up by another employee... what a huge fiasco... WAS NOT express at all !!!.... NOT at all happy with that service... NEEDS HUGE IMPROVEMENT.

Would like to see a refund for that service... because it was not what was paid for and not even close to what we expected the service to be.

Otherwise, the cruise went beautifully.... what a great staff. Completely satisfied with the cruise, except for the luggage express service.
