    Belize Port Cave Tubing

Just return from the  the most exciting cruise ever. I was in a family group, and it was 11 of us in the group. We found the Belize Port the most interesting. We didn't want to be in the large coach for the cave tubing, so we booked with www.abelizadventure.bravehost.com When we got off the tender we walked to terminal # 1 as instructed. When we exited the building there was some one holding a sign that reads our names. The drive to the cave lasted for 1 hour, 10 minutes. When we arrive on the site we got a 15 minutes break to us the rest room and to get in our gears. We then hiked in the rain forest for 20 minutes. As we hike through the rain forest our tour guide, Don did presentations on some of their valued medicinal plants.

Don is a very informative tour guide. He knew about every thing: the history of his people, plants, the caves, and the mayas. And to mention that Don is very good with children. He took special care of the little ones in the cave, and told us not to worry about any thing.

After the cave we stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant, where we had a local dish. And it was good.

After lunch we drove back to the City and did a City tour, and there after to the terminal to board the tender.

This is the kind of services that cruise ship passengers need . It feels good to have fun and not need to worry about missing the tender or any thing like that. I am recommending this tour to cruise ship guests heading to Belize. When you book, ask for Don to be assigned to you. He is the best tour guide in Belize.

I just need to mention that Don was very good to my family. He was polite and comforting. At the end of the day he was no longer our tour guide. He was a friend.

We used X-Stream Cave Tubing they were amazing.  They met us in the port area, right by our tender, so we didn't have to go out of the secure area of hte port.  It is a longer tour as you walk an extra 10 minutes up the trail past were most of the tours were getting into the river but we saw so much more!  The firs set of cave that we were in we were by our selves, just our group of 8 people and our guide.  Incredible, absolutely stunning!!  I highly recommend X-stream!

Isn't that tour simply amazing? It's nice that we can be met as we come ashore on the dock in Belize City - we saw X-Stream's staff with their posters and also Major Tom and his staff, who we were booked with. Seems the guides and operators inside the village all work well together, pointing out each as guests come ashore and start asking around. The entire cave tubing and zipline tour took 5 and a half hours from the dock to the site and back to the dock, giving us some quality shopping time! DW and DD went nuts at the little flea market inside the dock area - very wide assortment of handicraft, shirts and so on - not to mention the cold Belikin beer we got on the dock. Major Tom and his team rock!!! He's on the net - just google Major Tom in Belize and you'll ge the link.

Cave tubing is tops. You might want to try the combination of Cave Tubing and Zipline, and you will have lots of time for this combo tour with the shore excursions people in Belize. Try Major Tom at info@cave-tubing.net, whose tour was fabulous. Lots of info and a whole lotta fun. Apparently the good Major (real life army major) was one of the few who pioneered this tour way back in 1992, and has become one of the best at it. Also try the shopping in Belize.

Wow - just went browsing again through Major Tom's website www.cave-tubing.net and saw a special being offered for the combination cave tubing and zipline for $95........just about everyone else charges from about $100 upwards. Great savings.

not trying to ruin the moment..we were considering the cave tubing tour but after reading the postings about the incident in September we are a little turned off.  I mean, we know it was hurricane season, and it was a very rare occurrence but it's just a story that made the idea of cave tubing seem not quite as fun knowing what happened that day

I had several friends in the caves that day, they were with cavetubing.com and Major Tom's.  They have all told me, they would do it again in a heartbeat.  They all have said they never felt in any danger.  You may want to check out their websites before you decide not to do it.  (Just a thought)

We just got back off the Miracle & did the cave tubing. It was amazing & I am so glad we did it even after the incident in September. We never once felt in any danger and it had just rained for 3 weeks straight but the water was very calm & relaxing. We used cavetubing.bz and Vital was our tour guide. He grew up there around the caves & know evverything about the area and is very informative. He gave us a lot of info on the hike up (he even had us try termites!!). After we finished on the water we were met with rum punch and then an amazing local lunch (dont'a pass it up). I would highly recommend going on the cavetubing!

If you do go...take a waterproof camera with a flash!! We didn't know they made waterproof with a flash until after we went!

It sounds like a blast- we shouldn't worry about a fluke incident that happened since that means things will be that much safer in the future.

Someone also died on a carnival zip-lining expedition a year ago [Roatan, if I remember correctly].  Eventually, someone's going to die on an ATV excursion, someone else will fall off the catamaran and not be noticed for 15 minutes ...  tragic accidents happen.  A British newleywed couple on vacation in Spain last summer ... husband got caught in a minor rip current; drowned.  Someone will eventually die on one of the beach break excursions.  It happens.

You can't let that stop you from experiencing your life.  There's not enough bubble wrap to do that.

Desperately seeking 10th cruise for the free laundry.

rwilymz, I agree with you completely.  If we were to worry about things like that, might as well stay home and never drive...or walk.  When it's your time to go...bubble wrap is pointless anyway...somehow you'll end up suffocating from the plastic.

I think our concern was that having all those tramautizing posts fresh in our mind, there would be a small cloud hanging over the tour.  But after considering that for a moment, we've realized that it will still be a fantastic tour despite what may have happened one day.  I'll bet some of the cave, climbing, and snorkeling tours I've been on have had accidents we've never even heard about.  And we still had a blast so oh well.
