    Re: VIP Check In

Hi Irishlizz...........My next cruise, which will be on the Dream May 14, 2010 will finally be VIP status for me.  My daughter will be with me in the cabin-20 y/o-and I know because she will be in the same cabin that she gets the VIP status also.  Never having cruised under VIP status just wondering what its like.  Any input would be appreciated.

    Re: VIP Check In

We are currently booked on the Triumph on the 28th.  We have a Cat 11 for myself, Hubby, and our daughter.  We have a room across the hall for my 16 and 12 yr old son.  We have VIP and the boys do not. Because we booked both rooms, they are linked.  I asked our PVP that same question and she told us that they go through VIP with us.

    Hope you enjoy your Cruise!

Rob ~ It is just kind of nice to get special little VIP treats delivered to your cabin two nights, the VIP boarding of course... and I can't forget about the free laundry and the special Concierge Club item (currently a picture frame).  There is also a special line at the pursers desk for Concierge Club members (VIP's) and there just seems to be a little different level of respect from crew/staff (not that they were ever bad in the past!).  Just all the little things rolled into one, at least to me makes it special.

How cool that you will make VIP on the new Dream!   What a treat that will be... Big Smile

    Re: VIP Check In

I am totally surprised that in this day and age, the cruise ship will not let a24 year old male and a 20 year old girlfriend share a cabin. So many couples that age not only live together and share all expenses, they even have families they raise. What is the problem here? I know in my generation that would have been frowned on but now, please.

     Razz,

If you had booked your son into the cabin next door, or across the hall, you would have been able to book the kids together. The would not need to have an adjoining door, just be next to each other.

    DS - Cool

My son is in the cabin next door. Carnival still would not let us put them in the same cabin. They did tell me we could just swap cabins once on board.

The VIP check in is GREAT!!!!  I went on a girls cruise last year and we had 5 cabins booked with a total of 10 people.  I was the only VIP but they all got to go with me through VIP check in.  Just tell them when you first walk in so they will send someone to get the cards for the others.  Also, they can check out with you if you are doing the VIP check out where you get off first.  The laundry service is good but dont send any good clothes.

I have taken many groups of kids and two separate senior trips.  They have allowed us to always book with the adult over 25 in the room with each room but then we always swapped rooms once on board.  We have never had a problem with that.

    Re: VIP Check In

IrishLiz is, as usual, correct.  As a platinum, the staff does show a little more respect.  The fee laundry is probably nice, but we didn't take advantage of it.  Not having to stand in a long line at the pursers desk is sweet.  The strawberries they delivered to our cabin had mold on them, but they were replaced within minutes of being told the condition they were in.  The picture frames are nice.  The priority debarkation, though not always desireable, came in handy on the last cruise.  We went down to the pursers lounge at 0830 and were in our car at 0850.  (You think the looks you get when skipping the lines during the boarding process are bad, wait until you see the ones you get if you use the priority debarkation!)

Back to the subject at hand.  Carnival did let me book my twin daughters (then 17) in a cabin by themselves right across the hall from our cabin.  From the comments on this thread, I'm beginning to believe it matters who is booking your cruise and Carnivals mood at the time.  Not a negative comment.  Most businesses can be more or less flexible at different times.

Two days until the Triumph.  I have been waiting for months for this cruise only to have it threatened by Hurricane IDA!  I will stand on the deck in defiance of her wind and rain and scream, "I WILL NOT BE DENIED!"

Good for you. What a great attitude. If I was going with you, I would stand on the deck with you in defiance of the hurricane. However, I have to wait another 28 days till Sensation leaves with me on her for the Bahamas. Hopefully there will be no hurricnes. Happy Sailing

Did you see my storm pictures from my September Imagination cruise?  A crazy storm came through Cozumel the day we were there, pushed the Legend into a RCCL, then continue on its way.  I got some decent storm pictures even though I could barely stand up!
