    VIP Check In

Anyone know how this will work? My son is 24 and his GF is 20 so Carnival would not let us book them in the same cabin. I have a suite and my son has an OV so they put his GF in the Suite with me and DH in the OV with our son. Now GF and I have VIP check in and my son and DH do not. My son and his GF used his credit card for the S&S card and DH and I are on my credit card. Will we all need to check in through the regular lines because we have to provide the credit card at check in or will they have us all check in at VIP?

    Re: VIP Check In

From what I have been told before is that if one of the people in your party have the VIP check in you all can go in at the same time.

That would be great. I'm ok with either option but it would be nice if we could all check in through VIP. This is my son and his GF's first curise and that would make it a little more special for them. Thanks for the info and quick response.

That is correct.  I have been able to check in as many as 2 other cabins with my Platinum status.  No worries, and Happy Cruising!

    Re: VIP Check In

They have allowed me to take my daughters through the VIP line when they had their own cabin and my wife and I had a suite.  On three other occasions, we were sailing with a couple that were not related to us and Carnival would not allow them to go through the VIP line.  On one cruise, Carnival allowed a non-related adult couple go through the VIP line with us.  Seems to key on if they are immediate family most of the time.  I'm sure they have official rules.  Call your PVP and they will be able to tell you.

Oh, the last cruise when they wouldn't let the other couple traveling with us go VIP, it was our first platinum cruise.

How do you know if your booking numbes are linked? I know we requested to be seated at the same table for dinner, does that mean we are linked?

Call your pvp to make sure you are linked.  You probably are if you requested to be seated together for dinner, but you just might want to double check.  Better safe than having to wait in a long line!

On the cruise with my daughters, we had the same last names.  Otherwise, I don't think they do know.  Linking another booking didn't seem to matter either.  On our platinum cruise when our request was denied, the other couple's booking and ours was linked.

So many people are boarding with VIP privilages these days especially on the ships with a large number of Cat. 11 cabins.  On our last 4 cruises, the couple (our friends) boarding in the "regular" line only took about 15 more minutes to get on board anyway.  On our platinum cruise, we did notice an effort being made to hussle us on through.

We just ran into a similar situation with my daughter (23) and her BF (21).  They would not let them share a cabin so we split them between me and my fiancé.  I have VIP status.  They do not.  Neither does my fiancé...yet.  Anyway, we could all check in together at the same time.  They didn't ask any questions or anything.  Our cabins were linked together in the computer, but I don't think that even mattered.   Once we got on board, we went to the Platinum Conceriege Desk and had the S&S key cards re-keyed to the proper rooms and all went well.  THE only "problem" I had was that my goodies went to the "kids" room!!  I had to go down there to get them!!  I told my daughter they would not be "honeymooning" with my petit-fours!!  :-D

I didn't know you could get the S&S key cards re-keyed to the proper rooms. That's good to know. I presume thiy will switch the credit cards assigned to the S&S cards too?

I have a long way before I get to platinum status. I think I read somewhere on these boards that you get the goodies when you reach platinum but you don't get them when you book a suite, so no goodies for me. I'm glad the kids didn't eat them before you got to them.

Thanks for the info and happy cruising!

     Razz,

If you had booked your son into the cabin next door, or across the hall, you would have been able to book the kids together. The would not need to have an adjoining door, just be next to each other.
