    Carnival Fantasy

My wife and I and another couple are looking at cruises for the summer. We are considering the Carnival Fantasy because the prices aren't bad and it is within driving distance for us which will save us money for the Cruise. Hoping to get some honest opinions on the Carnival Fantasy ship because you always see just the negative posts online. The ship seems to have some good stuff and newer stuff like the waterpark, adult only section, mini golf, etc. Please let me know how your experience was on the Fantasy and how it compares to Carnival's other ships.

     Thanks!

I'm sailing on the Fantasy 11/10/09.  I have sailed on other Carnival ships.  If this thread is still here when I return I'll give you a report, including how the Fantasy handles hurricanes!

    Re: Carnival Fantasy

My cousin and his wife went on the Fantasy in Jan. and LOVED it. They could not say enough good things about it. I gotta say, as a regular Carnival cruiser I have never been on a ship that I didn't love. But,,,that's just me!  My daughter & her husband are going on the Fantasy in April. I'll let you know what she thinks.

Fantasy was my first cruise ship, and i LOVED it. It's a little smaller which I think is perfect. It has charm, and alot of updates..I think I even heard they have flat screen tvs now in the staterooms. :) I don't have a single complaint about the fantasy.

My friend was just on it for halloween, and she said the waterpark was GREAT! (I went on it before all the updates.)

I also read all those negative remarks before my first cruise on the Fantasy, and all it did was cause me unnecessary worry, because nothing bad at all happened. The room was always clean...there was no funny sewer smell, the food was awesome, and everyone was nice!

My very first cruise was on the Fantasy and I loved it. Great food, great service and overall had a wonderful experience. It got me hooked on the whole idea of cruising and was a perfect getaway for my DH and I. I would highly recommend this cruise ship!! I think she has received a few upgrades since we sailed on her so it should be that much better. Enjoy!

Looking forward to going on the Fantasy on Dec 14 with my wife for our first cruise It is real nice since we live in Mobile and we only have to go downtown to get on the boat.  Have heard many good things about the Fantasy.  I am sure all will be well and we will all have a blast.

    Re: Carnival Fantasy

I've been on the Fantasy several times, and each time I had the same experience...it was horrible.  They made me eat so much food I must have gained 10 pounds.  It wouldn't have been so bad except the food tasted so good it was a sin I'm sure.  The service was just as bad as the food.  Every time I turned around there was someone trying to make sure I had everything I needed.  And the cabin steward, you have to worry about someone that is always smiling and seems to only be there when you need him.  Oh yeah, and everytime I'd leave my room for more than 2 minutes, I'd come back to find that happy little sucker had cleaned up the mess I worked so hard to create. How dare them be so efficient.  And those towel animals that cluttered my room every night were the final straw.  Not to mention the dining room crew...they sang and danced during our dinner...how rude.  They even made my wife and I get up and dance with them.  Can you believe that.  Just to add insult to injury, they MADE me eat TWO lobster tails instead of one....JUST BECAUSE I SAID I WANTED IT!

Funny thing, I keep cruising Carnival to see if they will ever improve.  They have made the same mistakes mentioned above on every cruise I've been on.  Seems to me they would learn sooner or later.

I really hate it, but I'm going to give them another shot in 5 days.

We were a group of 9 that cruised on a 4 night cruise to Cozumel Sept. 24, '09.  It was DH and my first time on Fantasy and first time out of New Orleans port.  First two cruises were on the Conquest out of Galveston and that is a much bigger ship than Fantasy.  The upgrades on the Fantasy are nice though I can't compare to before since this was our first time.  We had great service from all the crew and our room was clean and no smells.  Our cabin steward kept our cooler filled with fresh ice twice a day (we did tip him extra at the beginning of cruise and again at end to ensure good service).  This was our first time in an oceanview as we had balcony on Conquest and did find with oceanview!

The New Orleans port was so much easiter to nagivate than Galveston and we liked that everything is within the same building (parking and embarkation stations).  We were very impressed with this port and will go out of it again in Dec. on Triumph and again on Triumph in Apr. 2010.  We carried our luggage off after the cruise and that went faster also than in Galveston.  Maybe we just hit it lucky???

You should have a great time on the Fantasy!!!!

Rusty....just thought I would let you know that it is not just the Fantasy. All of Carnival's fleet is like that. We've tried several ships and they are all the same....service , service, service. I too was forced to eat 2 lobsters tails! I mean really!!

My DH & I wanted you to know we had a great start to our morning today by reading your post. Thanks for that "funny" wake up call.

    Happy sailing

    Re: Carnival Fantasy

We were on the Fantasy in 2004 before all the upgrades and we had so much fun.  And, as a bonus...this is the ship we were on when I fell in love with my Andrew.  Lucky us...it will be docked in our port of Charleston,SC starting next year so we get to roam around all the places we did last time.  We are thinking of going in May!

Not going to post a countdown ticker until the cruise is actually booked. I jinxed myself dangit.

You cant go wrong, you are on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. I sailed it when it went to the Bahamas out of Florida, what a party boat. Between two lobsters up to the 24 hour pizza and room service. The new upgrades are great and the slide was real fun. They made it mandatory to be drunk by time to have the muster drill but it has to be a DOD (drink of day).............wish i was going
