Our family of 4 is flying in 2 days early before our cruise in May, and is wanting to know if anyone has rented a car from the airport and been able to return it before the cruise at the Port. We also be needing to rent one after the cruise to get back to the airport. Is it cheaper (for a family of 4)to rent a car or use a shuttle service?

Definitely, rent a car.  We are sailing on the Dream on 12/19/09.  I did all of the research, as we are flying in two days early as well.  Enterprise has the best rates.  At the airport, you can rent the car.  They have a place to return it in Port Canaveral.  They will shuttle you to the ship (free).  When you get back from the cruise, the shuttle will be waiting for you, and you can go rent a car in Port Canaveral.

Are you using Enterprise on you return trip back to the airport?

I am using Enterprise to rent the car upon return.  I'll be returning it at their International Drive location in Orlando (we are going to Disney for 7 days when we get back from the cruise)

We used InterPlex Transportation, and it worked perfect for us.

We also rent a car when we do this but we use Budget.  Renting the car gives you the most flexibility.
