We need advice - excursions for Western Carribean??

We're looking for information from experienced cruisers! Wink  We have 2 children, 8 and 12, that will be cruising with us.  We'd love to hear any hints on things to do and what not to do.  These are things we'd like specifics about: swimming with dolphins, Maiyan ruins, snorkeling and shopping.  We'd love to hear anything you have offer. Thanks much! Cool

Re: We need advice - excursions for Western Carribean??

My wife and I went on the Western cruise last year in February.  We only found i excursion that we wanted to spend the money on.  That was the "Caymen Pirate Encounter" at Grand Caymen.  There are alot of shore excursions to choose from and you can go broke just booking shore excursions.  But we really enjoyed the Pirate Encounter.  It's not just for kids.  It's for adults too.  It's not very expensive and we felt it was worth the money.  Our friend booked the excursion to swim with the dolphins.  That ran around $150.00 per person.  For the amount of time you have with the dolphins personally I feel it isn't worth it.  The dolphins are at the National Park which you also have to pay a fee to get in.  I think it was $12.00 per person.  The park is pretty cool.  You can snorkel at the park.  It is not a beach type setting but you are able to snorkel from shore.  The water is about 30'.  Visibility is great.  We saw plenty of different fish and we even saw a sting ray swimming on the bottom.  It was my first time snorkeling  and I really enjoyed it.  Hopes this helps you.  Our next cruise is February 5, 2011 on the Liberty on the Eastern Carribean.

We are going to the Western Carribean on the Liberty Nov. 7. We are new to cruising but are doing the excursions thru carnival.  We are going to the Ruins, the Dophin Swim & Stingray City, and Dunns Falls.  I will be glad to let you know all about these when we get back. Show you some pictures. :-)

Re: We need advice - excursions for Western Carribean??

Hi, we are going to the western caribbean in December and we are doing the pirate encounter in Grand Cayman as a family excursion, the kids think it will be good to have the parents walk the plank and the parents want to see the kids scrubbing the deck.

In Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios the different families are doing their own thing, I can't go snorkelling so decided that to see all the colored fish etc I would take the Atlantis submarine

Hope this helps. Have a great holiday
