    Decorating your stateroom door?

I read on some other posting (can't remember where) that sometimes people decorate their stateroom doors.  I love the idea - like tagging the luggage with something unique.  It will make coming back to the room so much fun.

But - I need to know, what types of stuff do you use?

Just general house decorating stuff?  And obviously kid friendly - right?

Any tips or even pics of something would be great!

    Happy Sailing!

Hi, ms_lisa71.  Just type cabin door decor into the search box at right for lots of ideas.  cruise critic dot com also has pages and pages on this subject.  Happy Cruising.           Dreaming of Floating................................

Our grandkids usually create some unique signs on just plain 8x10 paper and tape them to the cabin doors. It makes finding our cabin easy and really puts some fun into cruising with the kids--making it more like "their" cruise.

I always decorate our door and my daughter is now a teenager.  We're going again this year with a 16-year old and her 18 year old boyfriend and I will decorate the doors.  It's fun.

I have always decorated my door. I am a teacher and it usually has a theme of "celebrate--no school." I have even had my students to create a surprise decoration.

I never would have even thought of this!  What a neat idea!  Maybe since we are going without our kids, I can get them to decorate something for us that will remind them of us everyday.  Of course on the other hand, I am thrilled about a kidless week, maybe I won't!

Thanks Heather, I think you answered my question.  I think I will make our decorations relate to why we are on the cruise.  Since this is a celebration of family, I will find something which is siginificant to our memories.  I'm thinking the address of our family home ;)  I guess yours could be something which defined you as a couple before the kids - travel back to being freebirds ;)

    Happy sailing!!

I'm not sure about the decorating of the room door, but I do know Bon Voyage will decorate the inside of the room for a fee. This is great especially if you want to surprise someone. We went on our first cruise in May celebrating my husbands 40th Birthday. He was surprised. I asked him to open the door and the room was decorated for him. The decor stayed up until the end of the cruise. pictures are posted on flicker.

Hey - look what I found - samples!

Of course, these look very Halloweenish but I think it helps us new guys with ideas ;)

Cool. We are going again in May 2010 as 1 of many graduation gifts for my daughter. I can bring my own decor and make it more personal for her. Thanks.

Are the doors metal?  Do you use magnets, tape, poster mounts?

    Re: Decorating your stateroom door?

When I decorate my doors I pre-make all posters, papers, etc. Last year I used a flourescent poster board 12" X 18" (?) and used stick on letters for my "theme." I then found cut out parrots holding various beverages and put those up. I take a roll of masking tape and double it--I have the extra roll in case something falls. I'm a teacher, and one of my classes signed a piece of paper saying "Have fun," and stuff like that. There usually aren't too many doors decorated, and it does help to find your room down that LONG hallway. I personally don't put any pictures of anyone (privacy and all.)

I just bought some really cute vinyl clings for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Really quality ones. They threw in a sheet of tropical birds and fish. I'm putting the clings on my door. We'll see if the vinyl clings work. The graphics are very good and the vinyl is thick. So impressed we ordered another Xmas set. Cheap too :) bringing scotch tape just in case
