Assistance getting from ship off of pier?

Hello -  Wondering if there is assistance available to help folks get from the ship into the town/shopping/meeting tours.

My mother can walk, but walking long distances is hard for her without stopping to rest mulitple times.  In looking at pictures of some of the piers, it looks like there are some very long walks.

We could use a wheelchair, but she won't want to ride in one through the shops, etc.  I know there will be benches and places to rest in town.  Can we use a wheelchair to get off the pier, but leave it somewhere to use on the way back?  Or can a ride be arranged to get her from the ship off the pier?

    Thanks.

Hi TravelGal- a lot depends on the port you're stopping in... I went to Cozumel 2 years ago with a friend who is a lot like your mother- able to walk with a cane, but long distances are challenging... as soon as you get off the ship at the pier, they had the little bicycle buggies (bicycles with a 2 seater buggy attached) that will take you from the ship to the end of the pier where the shopping mall is. There was no charge, but I tipped the guy $10 (since he worked pretty hard getting us from the ship to the end of the pier!)
