    Rent a Room?

Has anyone does this? We're thinking of booking a room a the Comfort Suites just for atlantis access. How does this work with check in? It says check in at 3:00 pm. We get there at 8:00 am. Can we get our wristbands that early? We don't even want a key to the room. Also, does this include the dig, and aquariam at atlantis? Thanks for any help.

    Re: Rent a Room?

I also heard about this on a cruise message board.  Enough comments convinced me that it is a good idea.  I've booked a room there on 11/21.  I even called the hotel directly to confirm that the place I booked through was reputable.  They know people do this every day--book with them just to get the Atlantis passes.  There's no problem.  I did note on my reservation that I wanted early check in.

Anyway, my understanding is that it's best to take a taxi to the front door (rather than the water taxi).  Go check in, go out the door and get your wristbands and go have fun.  You can check out at the same time as you check in, but we're going to not check out until that evening.  Then if we need a break in the middle of the day, we'll have a place to go.

    When are you going?

We'll be in Nassau on 12-15-09. Which hotel did you book? What kind of rate did you get? I looked on the comfort suites website, the room is only $197 with tax included, but they charge 9.95 each adult for energy surcharge? and 4.50 for each adult for housekeeping. Please let me know how this worked for you

    Re: Rent a Room?

I booked at the Comfort Suites, but made my reservation through "BookIt.com".  I've never heard of them before so I called the hotel in Nassau and asked about them and the guy confirmed that BookIt does reservations for them all of the time.

Our price is $149 for 2 adults.  With tax, tariff and service fees the total came to $171.28 which we've already paid.  We will have to pay the energy and housekeeping surcharges you mention when we are at the hotel. That brings our total bill to just over $200 for 2 adults, which is about $110 cheaper than if we booked through the cruise line.  (Sorry Carnival.)

We'll be at Atlantis a week from today.  I will try and remember to report back on here when we return to tell you how it turned out.  Is there anything else you want information on that I can look for while we're there?

Also, I noticed that this Comfort Inn allows kids under 15 to stay for free with 2 paying adults.  That sure would bring down the per person cost!

Also, the wristbands get you into everything at Atlantis--the dig, the aquarium, all the waterpark activities, the beach, etc.

I was wondering if you got into the aquarium also, the kids will love that. Let me know how expensive the food is there. I heard it's pretty steep. Hey, thanks for that website, the price is $50 cheaper than the hotels website. $50 is $50. Thanks again

My friends and I booked a room at the Comfort Inn Suites across from the Atlantis in August to get the day passes and it worked out great.  We had acess to everything at the Atlantis (pools, waterslides, casino, and the Dig (aquarium). They have lockers at the Atlantis by the waterslides. I would recommend you do not leave valuables in your room but put them in a locker at the Atlantis. Also I would recommend that you wear water shoes or your flip flops even on the slides as the pavement can get hot...at least it did in August. Lots of people did that. You might want to take water bottles and light snacks as the food and drinks are somewhat pricey. Have fun all!

    Re: Rent a Room?

The food prices are comparible with Disney or any US theme park.  Last year we got 2 bottles of water, chicken sandwich, 1 order of fries and nachos and it was about $30.  We didn't really eat a meal there we just snacked and ate when we got back to the ship.  I thought it could have been a lot worse.  Now if you want to eat inside at one of those restaurants that is a whole different ballgame.

    Re: Rent a Room?

We will be in Nassau on Dec 10th, I booked room @ the Atlantis for $159!!! Price does not include tax and a service fee, but it will still be a lot less than the Carnival Excursion for the 3 of us. Atlantis has been hurt by the down turn in the economy, I have been told that they have laid off almost 500 employees, this is why we are seeing some great rates at the hotel! Give them a call to check prices don't go by the internet price! Have fun!
