Past Guest Info/ CCL please respond

I sailed with CCL in April of 1983 on the Festivale, although I have no proof of this. I did put it on a Sign & Sail Amex card( no longer have this card). Since then I have sailed with Princess in 2005, which I understand allows me past guest benefits. I have tried to use interchange priviledges link in the Currents part of this site, but it is a dead link. in addition. I have talked to a PVP and she had no information about this situation.

I plan on booking for an Oct 2010 cruise in the upcoming weeks, but I would like to have this resolved before I do.

Anyone have any insight on this.

     Mike

For what it's worth. I went thru this some time ago with Princess and Carnival.  According to several Carnival operations contacts (not PVP's) the Vacation Interchange Program was being put on hold for subsequent elimination/re-negotiation.  I was also told, and it looked to be true, that references to this program was being eliminated in new publications.

Princess operations rep claimed that sister-line Past Guest benefits are available on a limited basis and that you have to call Princess, and ask if Vacation Interchange Rate is available for your cruise.  I've yet to get a "hit" on this.

Carnival operations rep claimed that Carnival still gives Princess Cruisers the Carnival Past Guest Rate (several CC posters have indicated success with this), but not on all cruises (?); this might take some persistence.

We used the VIP last spring from HAL to Carnival. From everything I gather it is on a per cruise, pre room basis. All you can do is ask. Sometimes it is available and sometimes it is not. We were only able to use it on baclony rooms and not suites.

Support Baltimore cruising. Who wants to go to FL to cruise.

    Hi Mike,

Had the same situation a few months ago when booking our upcoming 11/23 trip.  I sailed in '89 and again in '91 but my bookings where not available within CCL's system which apparently went online in '94.  I did have an advantage over you where as I had a receipt from my original booking (scrapbook).  I did learn that you could also use a photo from your trip as proof.  Example, I traveled with a friend and we had an Embarkation picture taken that had the ship name and date on it.  Was told that would have worked in lieu of a receipt.  Once I faxed my supporting documentation, it took them a few days to get back to me with my Past Passenger #.

One cautionary note, exhaust your efforts in getting the Past Passenger # before you book.  I made the mistake of booking first, getting my Past Passenger # then calling back to get my discount.  Prices had changed so I didn't relize the true discount and you also risk having to pay change in bookings fees.

    Good luck to you.
