I know I sound like I am whining....

My family and I are booked for a Dream cruise out of New York on Nov 15th.  I was late in making my final payment- but I DID make it.  I have paid 3700.00 to cruise with my family in a balcony room.  My grown daughter and her 2 children are also coming and they paid in full and on time.  So that's a lot of money we, as a family have paid.  But because I was late in making the final payment, I found out through my TA that I am not eligible for any price reductions that others are taking advantage of.  Because I was late.  But in my mind, I DID pay.  This has left a bad taste in my mouth as far as Carnival is concerned.  I totally understand that they could have cancelled my reservation- but they didn't.  So they made out, but are punishing me.  With the hard economic times that we are having now, it seems like they would be a little more understanding.  Please, no lectures about how I should have paid on time- I KNOW!

    Your TA mis-spoke.

If you booked Early Saver, you can get price reductions up to two days before departure.

If you booked any other than Early Saver (FunSelect, FunSaver, Past Guest.......) no one gets price reductions after the Final Payment Deadline (60 to 75 days before departure). This has been Carnival Policy for quite some time, and has ZERO to do with your having paid a few days late!

ok, 2 things come to mind..  the first is as the other poster stated, if you did not book early saver rate, just the normals, there are no price reductions after final payment is due. if you did book the "early saver rate" which is non refundable deposit, then you get price reductions up to 2 days before your cruise. which if final payment has been done, then you get it as on board credit. i would call carnival and ask them and explain that yes, you were lucky your cruise wasn't cancelled on you, but since its still a valid reservation, are you still eligable and if they say yes, then call your travel agent and tell them to submit the form to carnival!

this is one thing you can not blame carnival on, your travel agent is to be aware of these things to be a good travel agent. and also, it is up to you to keep up to date on the price changes and if your cabin class has been reduced, then you must call your TA and tell them theres been a reduction and to please submit the reduction form to carnival..

     wish you luck

Re: I know I sound like I am whining....

Ken is correct.  I did not book early saver and after I made my final payment I saw the cruise was down almost $300.  I called my PVP and they told me that once you pass that final payment date you are no longer eligible to receive any future discounts...unfortunate for us but lucky for the ones that got Early Saver.

They are very strict about the final payment dates...I am honestly surprised they did not cancel your reservation as I have seen this done before.  Actually you should be happy that they still let you pay late and didn't cancel you or charge you a late fee.

If you think paying on time would have gotten you a better deal, then you may want to re-think your travel "agent". Any Travel Consultant worth working with stays on top of payments and when they are due.

My agency has a steadfast policy to make the deadline for final payment 1 week prior ro when the cruiseline requires it. We also stay in contact with the client from 1 month prior to the payment date to keep the payment deadline in mind.

Re: I know I sound like I am whining....

I have a very similar situation; however, my rooms were cancelled.  I completed all documents two days ago.  At that time, I entered an alternate email address.

Today, I received an email from Carnival that my documents were incomplete.  When I logged on, I saw that my bookings were cancelled. I immediately called Carnival and was told that I had not paid and that I had ignored emails and phone calls.  I never received either.  Today was the first on my alternate email address.  I asked what email they had and it was the original.    We are booked with 3 other families.  Two are okay, but the ones we paid for are not.  We agreed to move from the 8th level to the 6th level.  Now, I find out that we are on opposite sides of the ship.  Can we eat together?  I hope so.  My inlaws are in their 80's and my mom-in-law requres a wheelchair.  What can we do?  After reading the post, I believe that the travel agent is possibly at fault.  We were not aware that we owed additional funds until today.   Any suggestions?

what you need to do is to have your TA link all the booking numbers together... and make sure that you are all asking for the same dining time.... that way you should all be seated together... when you check in look at your S&S cards and make sure you have the same dining times and table number... if not go see the maitre D in the dining room and see if he can fix things for you.

maybe your TA is using this as an excuse for them not wanting to do anymore work...
