Did anyone else get pulled over by security when we were leaving on Thursday October 22nd ?  They put my families sign and sail card in and let them proceed when I went thru it made a noise and they said that "I had a credit at the Guest Services?"  I thought something was up scared the crude out of me... dont like dealing with immigration... my brother in law is from Mexico and growing up we always had nightmares with customs ... while driving across so loved how easy it was to go on a cruise ship ... I also work for District Judges so I dont' think I am a threat ???  They wouldnt let my family wait for me had them move to the other area... but I had all their passports they called someone on the phone .. asked me what cabin I was in and then after I told them they said you are free to go... didnt think I had a credit?  And of COURSE I didnt have one  Just something to stop me for?? I called Carnival later and they said that Customs choices certain people to screen??? wish it wasnt me always get parnoid ... aghh anyone else have this happen?  Other than that we had a blast but planning another one next year already getting parnoid of being pulled aside...

That is crazy ! I don't blame you for being scared, I would have been too! That is a first, I've never heard of this happening. By the way, did you witness a young guy running around yelling there was a bomb and for everyone to get out of the building. I guess it was about noon. We were waiting in the looooong line trying to clear customs when it happened. Scared me until I realized his family was trying to get him to stop. I overheard someone saying that he suffered from panic attacks and that he lost it while in line. Poor thing!

I am sure that it was because your card donged when it was suppose to ding. so they had to call to make sure everything was ok before they let you go.... 

I saw it done in the air port in Mazatlan and was told that machines are set so random people are checked.

thats what Carnival is telling me that Custom looks at the manifest and picks certain people but scared the crude out of me.....

Does US Customs use the Sign and Sail cards?   I thought Customs screening happened after you left the ship, and entered the Customs area at the dock/terminal.

Anyway, I do understand your feelings.  A few years ago, I was "randomly" selected for additional screening at an airport.  They pulled me out of the regular line and escorted me to a private room, but required me to leave my, then, 4 year old unattended.  I guess Americans of Italian decent are on their list of known terrorists.

Yea, if one reads thru the TSA/Dept of Homeland Security website, they state in rather bold print that they would never do this to parents.  They lie.  They did to me.

You aren't obviously a parent.

Any parent being separated from their 4 yo, and their 4 yo being allowed to wander unsupervised amongst total strangers, would be scared and frantic, dont ya think?

I guess if it doesnt happen to you .. you wouldnt know how it felt I couldnt imagine if they separted me for my child,,, as for me no I have nothing to hid I have worked in the legal field for 22 years Texas Supreme Court, Hays and Travis County,,, while we were trying to get my brother in law over from Mexico.. we had some horror stories I remember when I was a kid how BOTH SIDES...scare you to death!! so no I have nothing to hid.. and I guess there is always someone out there to try to start something with posters .... guess I need to get use to it... but cant believe some people will be so rude...

 

I called the next day and they said I do not have a credit and yet today AMAZING CARNIVAL who is very HONEST sent me a check for $5.34  when they closed it out guess they didnt catch that ?/ Or they charged me to much for something haha so I did have a credit and I guess they decided to mail it instead of me having to return all the way upstairs haha  WHEW!!!!!
