    Nassau

Seems that every cruise we take, we end up in Nassau at some point. That being said, Nassau is becoming a bit over done for us. We have done the Aquarium at Atlantis, snorkled on a reef, strolled (if that's what you can call it) the Straw Market, walked around the town, done the water taxi to Atlantis (that was fun) & various other things. Anyone have any ideas as to something different & fun we could do? Although we are seasoned cruisers, we are taking a friend who is all new to this type of adventure. Something that would be fun for us & an adventure for him. Thanks in advance everyone. I know my brothers & sisters in cruising can come up with something exciting... Libby

How about a trip to the fort and Ardastra Zoo?? It's only about 10 minutes outside of town!  Small but quaint little zoo - watch out for the pig wandering the grounds and be sure to catch the flamingo show!!

There is a thriller powerboat ride you could take.  It is like a 60' cigarette boat and it goes like 60 miles per hour and it takes you on a tour...it is a TON of fun!  You go out front of the Atlantis, and over to blue lagoon and around a few islands.  If you do this though, DO NOT SIT IN THE BACK ROW OR YOU WILL BE SOAKED!!!

Is this an excursion we could book on the ship or did you pick it up in the port? Sounds like fun.

Hi, I read that if you book your excursions independantly and not through the cruise, you can save up to 200%, is this true and has anyone tried it etc?

If you save 100%, it would be free.  If you save 200%, they'd pay you.

    No, that does not happen.

But it is very easy to book virtually identical or very similar excursions to the ones Carnival offers and end up pay, sometimes, half of what you'd pay Carnival.  Frequently, the private outfit will offer more options, nearly always the group will be smaller and therefore you'll get more attention, and they are almost always far more accomodating than the Carnival groups -- which have a mass-produced feel about them.

Note: The Carnival excursions will be guaranteed to get you back to the boat -- the boat will wait for you.  Private outfits do not make that guarantee, and while rare it has happened that someone on a private excursion missed the boat.

Also note: do your homework before booking a private excursion.  Also rare, some will rip you off.  Make sure they take refundable deposits [refundable if the ship does not make port, not if you change your mind]; or better still, book one that you pay at the end.

But if you find one that has 200% less charge, let me know.  I have a feeling that'd become my favorite activity real quick.

Desperately seeking 10th cruise for the free laundry.

We booked through the ship last time we did it but not Carnival, it was NCL so not sure if Carnival has it or not.  If not, here is a link to contact them and a little info about it...
