Dear Carnival Connections,

     My wife and I ahve been searching for a particular band on one of you ships for quite sometime. Then we discovered Canival Connections, and found it a great tool for information, suggestion, reviews and inquiries. My wife and Sister-in-law have been cruising with Carnival since the very beginning when Carnival just started out with the Mardi Gras (their first ship) which most people don't even know about. Including the Mardi Gras they have been on all of the smaler ships (Tropicale, Festivale) Except the Carnivale. Other ships include the Jubilee, Holiday, Fantasy, Ecstasy, Fascination, Sensation (Inaugural) Liberty and Freedom. Some of these ships they sailed with twice or three times. We are now a party of 6 and between us we have 34 Cruises under our belts with 2 of us on their first cruise in Dec. There was a band that my wife and Sister-in-law used to follow called "Music Society Band" the original members back then were; Cyrus, Rene, Freddie and Ike. Over the years they lost touch with them except for One band Ex-member which does not play on any of the ships anymore, but even He could not tell us where to find them. Prior to our cruise upon the Freedom last Dec. 2008 we tried to find which ship the band was on but were sadly disappointed when we came to nothing but dead ends. So we thought it would be a great idea to set up a web site, bet how do we get Carnival cruisers to find our site. Then we came across Carnival Connections......andwhat a better place to find you favorite Carnival Band then in a Carnival site. We finally did manage to find which ship the Music Society Band is on I must say it was the luck of the draw to find some one with that information. Then we were double lucky that Music Society band will be on the Liberty on Dec 2009 WOW what luck....since we already booked way before we found out about the band.

     I (we) would like Carnival ro add a catagory under "On Board Fun" called Music Band Groupies" so anyone may post a review of their favorite band and share withall Carnival Cruisers which band is on which ship. Once the new Catagory is set up we can start different threads......each one called the name of a band. Inside the thread you should find our shich ship they are on. This way Cruisers "Groupies" could find out quickly without having to spend endless hours searching for keywords on the internet and blah, blah, blah. Instead precious time could be spent filling out our "R\Fun Pass" documents and picking shore Excursions and so on.

     I am willing to bet that there are many more Loyal Carnival Customers that feel the same way about favorite bands. If you read this and a agree please con't hesitate to write a quick comments......you never know when yu might run into a Carnival Band that you really like....and perhaps some day you might wonder where they are today.

Yes, I would definitely love to have the New Catagory Called Music Band Groupies.  My favorite band that I follow and keep in touch with is "Music Boardwalk".  This will be very beneficial for us Groupies.  And definitely helps us deciding what ship to book on. Please, Please add this category.  There is nothing like a good rock and roll band.  Thanks again Mary49 

Thanks posting this request Daniel. I too think it would be a great new addition to the on board fun forums. I cruise yearly with a group of about 25 people, with ages ranging from 25 year olds to 60 year olds. The band entertainment thus far has been the highlights of our nights on the cruise because it is the area of entertainment where everyone in the group can really hang out and enjoy. We have our favorite band Music Motion, who we have looked for in the past to book our next cruise. I have found that u can call the entertainment dept to get updates as to where the bands are. But if there was a new catgory this info could be added to this forum. Thanks in advance for the consideration. Carnival Music Band Groupie.

Thanks Daniel for getting the ball rolling.  This would most definitely be a great addition to the forum. My favorite band is Music Asia.  We tend to book depending on what ship they are on.  As soon as I find out what ship they are on, I will post it here. Thanks again.

I am not sure if I  am understanding your post. But I have seen passengers or us groupies on stage with the band on occasion, ( singing or playing along on one of  the band members instruments.) As for myself not drop of musical talent in my body.

Oh Lovers, I do love to watch him sing. He has a very diverse group of songs he sings. I enjoy him and would love to find the next ship he is on. Let me know if you hear anything and thanks for the link. -joy

I am very pleased so far with the response to my thread, mind you this new category will not happen over night. We do need more exposure to this thread to make an impact. On your next cruise don't be affraid to talk to other passengers about the bands, this site and this thread...after all we are always looking to meet new people, and what a great way to start a conversation than "what a great band!" We will be on the LIberty on Dec 5th and looking so forward to it. the more people we get on board to this site  and leave information about the bands. The better it will be to approach Carnival Connections for our request. So Lets party it up on the ships, make new friends and liten to the great bands! Happy sailings everyone.

My latest information, I hope it is correct.  Jeff Johnson will be on Carnival Splendor for 5 months starting mid November.  Music Asia will be on Carnival Sensation, starting date soon, exact information not known....joy
