For the galley tour, just watch for it to be listed in the Capers; it will tell you where and when to take the tour.

    ladydi:

If you're on a shorter cruise, some ships have a galley tour which is much shorter, maybe 45 minutes, and interesting. We did that tour on Imagination.

Some of the shorter cruises (like the Paradise) are offering the Behind the Scenes tour for $55 for 2.5 hours.

    Re: BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR...HELP...

I just did this tour on the Conquest this last week and we LOVED it, very thorough, very informative and interesting. Word of advice take comfortable shoes, enclosed toes.they wont let you go in sandals. Also, dont take any cameras or cell phones, they will retain them till the end of the tour. prepare to walk FAST.. usually the are timed and is a long tour 3.5 hours. At the end we got a lot of goodies.. like a carnival bag, with a wristbands, a hand carved soap from the galley crew, a book, landyard, cap, and 3 8x10 picts, also we got a plate of strawberries, cookies and cakes in our room.

I dont think kids will enjoy this too much.. its too long for them.

One last thing.. book EARLY, as fast as you can when you see the booth open. it fills up quickly. Is only two groups of 16 ppl each. We had several people of our group that wanted to go, but the couldnt cause it was full.. and there were no cancellations.

sounds extremely cool, but I might have to wait and do this on a longer cruise as I am only taking a 4 day cruise for the first time. I think if I can get DH talked into a second cruise we will take a longer one and have this as an expense we plan on taking extra cash for! :) thanks for all the info everyone!

Just got back from the Liberty - I purchased this for DH's b-day.  Absolutely worth every penny!  Photo on the bridge with the captain - priceless.  I would recommend you do this during a longer cruise.  The galley chefs seemed so happy to see us all!  Carnival staff were just as friendly backstage as they are onstage!

We did the behind the secnes tour on the Imagination.  The tour was not advertised in the capers.   We heard about the tour on this message board and immediately checked at the excursion desk and got signed up.  Well worth the $55.00 we paid

I was on the Destiny for 5 days in October, and it was offered there. So it's offered on some 5 day cruises as well. I really want to do it on the next cruise I go on, and even if it's $95, it sounds like it's worth it from what everyone has posted.
