are you meaning muster drill???? if so it is the life boat drill where they tell you about how to use the lifejackets and the procedure to get off the ship incase of emergency.

Yeah, muster drill.  It is boring, but it is just something we all have to suffer through.  Lots of whining and complaining, which can be slightly amusing as I think back on it.  Hopefully it will be over quickly and you can get back to the fun stuff!!

On my first cruise when they were doing the muster drill, we took lots of pictures. Some we even posed for. It is all part of the experience so take it in, want to or not; and have a great time.

The Muster drill is designed to save your life if anything goes wrong on the ship that requires everyone to leave the ship and be put into life boats.  Pay close attention during the drill.  It's not a joke, and it's not boring.  It's too keep you from panicking during an emergency due to ignorance.  Actually, if you have a good attitude and smile, you'll no doubt make some friends as you all stand there with your life vests on!  Just think, you'll be standing on a ship deck while your friends back home are really bored!

    Have a great time!

Muster drills were something that used to be required but I did read on another board that they have changed them a bit. You no longer need to get your life jacket from your room. You still need to go to your muster station but they just give you a presentation. Similar to what is done on an airplane. I didn't mind the muster drills. I got some very funny pictures of my DH and DDs acting it out. We try to have fun in everything we do on the fun ship!!

It is a necessary and important activity. In a muster drill the crew tells you how to put the life jacket on, but they do not tell that you must put it on during the drill; just bring it with you. You will be surprised or dismayed at the lack of attention.  There are folks, usually first time cruisers, who will insist that you must wear the jacket.

Just got off the Sensation on Sunday and we didn't have to take our lifejackets with us or put them on.  Just watched a presentation at our muster station like a previous poster said.  It only lasted about 10 minutes.

I hated it too. It was so crowded and I hate big crowds that push you around.  But, it must be done no matter how many cruises you have been on.

No wonder the drill takes so much longer than it needs to, when passengers stop to pose for pics during it.  Angel

oh man, i remember my first drill on the sensation back in '99. i was so excited to get vacation started and explore this ship i was NOT happy and felt like it took forever. but the last 4 i have been on have been very quick and painless. i remember in '99 they made you put your life vest on then head to your station, now they want you to carry it, much better. like i said..quick and painless

I know the pictures take alot of time but on your first cruise, you need to savor the experience. Next time out, you do not need the pics. Have a great time out.

Yes there is not a thing good about it. Drink in one hand and a lifejacket in the other. Stumble up or down depends on the ship. Cant use the elevator have to use the stairs that are filled with lots of empty glasses and people have the same problems that i have, they closed the bars for this. Take my advice hide in the bathroom lol.
