Becky i was just frustrated because every post of yours was talking about smoking and your opinions. We get it, you dont like it. I just wish you'd move on with something else and leave the smokers alone. So many wonderful things to talk about on these cruises. I cannot wait to go on mine. Its so cold over here and im dreaming of sand, water, and warmth.

I hear ya! Wink It was getting out of hand so I apologized. Definitely more air in here since we dropped that subject Stick out tongue. I'm sure it'll come up again in other posts, but I've got better things to discuss, as you said Smile. So, where's "here" (cold over here)? I was able to say that for the past eight years living in North Carolina, but so far in Cali it's just kind of chilly... I guess. Ok, I'm not gonna lie. I'm a sissy when it comes to the cold so yes, it's cold... in California! I said it! LOL Mostly at night though; it definitely could be worse. (Like when I go to Wisconsin w/my boyfriend this Xmas!Surprise) But then the Splendor will be taking us to Mexico in March, doubt it'll be cold there! lol "Sand, water & warmth!" Amen.

    Re: Unhappy with Splendor

The only major cruise line I've been on is NCL. My Mom took my li'l siblings & myself to Bermuda. It was my first cruise ever and it was AWESOME. But from what I've heard (from my cruise-experienced family) Carnival is better. Other than that, I've been on local cruises in NY and Europe. Funny how I've traveled the world on plane, train, boat, car, whatever, with a Marine Dad, and lived in random places like Japan and Hawaii... but I'd still rather go on a cruise right around the corner! LOL - I guess relaxing on the Splendor, in a spa, or on the deck with a Pina Colada is a little different than helping my parents pack up the whole house 800 times & flying coach! I'd go on the cruise even if the ship stayed still! (Shhh, don't let that get out - they'll start charging us extra just to go somewhere.)

    Surprise haha

We will be on the same sailing (3/21/10).  Look for us, we'll be easy to spot.  We will be the only ones on the ship with a service dog!!!

Thanks Marlene.  When I started this post, I just wanted to inform people of my opinion.  Didn't think it would become an anti-smoking campaign.  My husband and I have been on many cruises with Carnival and this is the first time that we were unhappy with the ship itself.  We were really looking forward to the Splendor because it was new.  People can make their own decisions about what ship to sail but if no one informs them of changes, they may be upset, just as we were.  I don't 'whine' easily and again, this was just our opinion.

    Re: Unhappy with Splendor

I really dislike hearing negative things about a Fun Ship before I get to cruise on her. Diane and I have been looking forward to our January 17, 2010, date with a beautiful pink lady in Long Beach for months. Fun Ship Cruising is all about accentuating the positives and downplaying the negatives. We'll go on our Mexican Riviera Cruise and have a great time. We have never had a bad cruise on a Fun Ship. I know some folks were saying bad things about the Holiday recently. Our cruise on the Holiday for her final voyage was one of our greatest cruises ever. If you had a bad experience, please share it with someone who truly cares. Carnival Cruise Addicts don't feel all that sympathetic toward folks who whine about not having a great cruise. A great cruise is in the cruiser's mind. Have a nice day!

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!

I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.

Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

We went on two Norwegian Cruise Line Tramp Steamer Cruises - Thank goodness we were too busy on our honeymoon in 1978 to realize how crummy the cruise actually was - Then they ruined our 2007 Hawaii Cruise that was my retirement gift from my wife - Two chances is enough! - Never again!

Our current future dream cruise is 15 days back-to-back on the Freedom / 8-day Eastern (Fort Lauderdale) and the Valor / 7-day Western (Port of Miami) with a 45 minute private shuttle ride in between the two Fun Ships.

As a non smoker who's allergic from  my early years of bring trapped in car with smoking father, I'm glad of this smoking situation; but please realize many of us just can't tolerate it. I'm sorry for your inconvenience, but the health risks are just too great! CUT BACK OR GIVE IT UP FOR YOUR OWN SAKE AND THE SAKE OF YOUR LOVED ONES!

    First time cruiser

OMG Becky,we'll be first timers (Carnival cruisers) on March 21 as well and I was sharing your concerns until I read through many of the posts. We're celbrating our 24 year old sons college graduation and more then anything I just want him to have an amazing time. Life and trips are what we make it and wasn't it Abe Lincoln who said "people are as happy as they choose" or some such! For me I'll focus on sun and fun something we soggy Oregoniian's are craving!

Pink decor here we come and I'll love ya!

    Have a wonderful time!

    Re: Unhappy with Splendor

I still don't know how this became an 'anti smoking campaign'.  I am well aware that smoking is bad for you.  I am a non-smoker!  If you go back to my original post, you will see that I listed quite a few things.  How about the problem with not finding rest rooms or that they were so narrow 2 people couldn't pass each other.  That can be a problem with anything who has mobility problems.  The pink ... well, what can I say.  Didn't hate it and didn't love it.  Did you know that if you go to the Captain's party that you now have to pay for your drink.  I don't drink either but many people were very surprised to find out it wasn't free.  If someone doesn't inform people, they become upset because they were used to one way.  Did we enjoy our cruise ... yes.  We just didn't like the SHIP as well as other Carnival ships we have been on.

Hope everyone planning on cruising on the Splendor have a wonderful time.  Big Smile

    Re: Unhappy with Splendor

Did you write or call them about your concerns? We are going on this ship in Jan. I am not a smoker so that won't brother me and I don't drink coffee but I do use the restrooms often. But I don't think that will be to much of a problem. This is a larger ship then most so it should work out ok. They do have a guarantee you could had called them on that and got your money back. We had a problem on one of the ships where one of the workers was staking my daughter and we didn't know about it until we were on our way back home. I did contract them and they did nothing about it which I think that they should had. One of our trips we didn't go to all of the ports they had a medical problem with one of the people on board and had to turn the ship around to meet up with the helicopter to take her to land to a Dr. They did give everyone 25.00 back and a refund of our tour which was good but we really made this trip for this one port so that was a disappointment. We also found other then that one guy the staff and the food and the shows was wonderful this will be our 5th cruise with them and I hope we won't be disappointed with the ship like you were.

Smitty we are going the same time as you. I was hoping to find someone before we left to chat with thought it would be fun to get to know someone that is also going. This will be our 5th cruise and really looking forward to going. This time it will just be my husband and myself. Last cruise we surprised our oldest daughter for her birthday we got the pent house that time was very nice. I hope to hear back from you. RosieL818@aol.com
