Angry [:@] Luggage Express... NO!! Luggage Lost... Never Cruising again!!

Carnival you ruined it for  yourself and all other cruise lines.  I will not cruise again on any cruise line!!!!   What a huge disappointment overall.  This was supposed to be a leisure vacation, keyword leisure.  I felt as though I was rushed at every port of call, dinner and lunch.  But the biggest dissapointment, for me anyway, was using the Luggage Express Service.  This was supposed to ensure at disembarkation, the delivery of my luggage to the airport through to my final destination.  Well obviously that did not happen.  not only did my luggage not arrive but, the airline has no record of it ever being scanned into their system for delivery.  Oh and to top it off, the Carnival Guest Services office is not open until Monday morning, two days after I have dismbarked form the ship.  Funny, the majority of their cruises dock at the home port on Sat or Sunday but the Guest Services offices are not open on weekends, seems odd to me!!!

The food on board was average at best!!.. Shore Excursions way over priced.  The constant baggering to buy alcoholic drinks.  And to be charged for Soda and Juice ridiculous.  Don't forget, that you are automatically charged a grautity for almost everything.  Room Cleaning, any beverage purchase, dining room service all have automatic gratuities included, regardless of how good or poor the service may have been.  On our trip the best service came from low men/women on the totem pole.  The lady who cleaned our room an the bus boy for our dining room were the most pleasant and caring crew members we met the entire trip.

This will be the last time I will ever, ever take a cruise with Carnival.  If you want a leisurely vacation without the hassles and worries, book an all-inclusive resort on one of the caribbean islands.  You can drink as much as you want, eat as much as you want and go on excursions for less than what they charge on the cruise ship.  All of the resorts have HUGE swimming pools, great beaches, exerciose facilities, and SPAs that put the cruise line spa to shame as well as nightclubs on the resort premises.  You can shop at local shops for souvenirs eat at local dining places, and even enjoy some of the night life the island has to offer.

Hi!  It's obvious that it's the airport that lost your luggage as they do not have a record of it - not the cruise line.

I guess I must count myself extremely lucky as I've been traveling for over 20 years and I have never lost a luggage.  It is a common thing now with all the people travelling, it happens every day, all the time, many people loss their luggage or are sent to the wrong destination.

Don't think that it won't happen if you book an all-inclusive stay on an island - it can happen and it will.

I guess since I don't drink soft drinks because they are not healthy for me, drinking the free juices, coffe and tea is more than enough.  Yes, they do apply gratuities on all alcoholic drinks - a 15% which is the norm for a tip - very small amount, I even add to the tip and I am not a rich person or have a lot of $$$.  Sometimes on my cruise I pay for my gratuities and maybe spend $40-$50!

I've done both, all inclusive and cruising.  Every year my sister wants me to look at all inclusive places, and I do.  and every year we go cruising.  By the time the final amount for a 2 week all inclusive comes up on the screen and I almost fall off my chair, we go cruising because it's cheaper and we get to see more islands instead of just one.

Everyone has to find that they enjoy most, once you find it - stick with it.

Re: Luggage Express... NO!! Luggage Lost... Never Cruising again!!

I have done both and they each have their own merits.  I prefer cruising because with free booze all day at a resort, my DH never made it to dinner.  I ate dinner alone every night.  As far as rushing goes that was your own fault.  You rushed to here and rushed to there Why!  On a cruise you don't have to go anywhere at anytime.  You don't even have to leave your room if you don't want to.  Did Carnival make you do excursions? No, you choose to do them and if you feel you spent too much you should have picked less expensive ones.  As far as eating, you can eat any time you wanted to so that had to be the most stupid thing to complain about.  Going on a cruise is about the cruise.  Being on a ship on the ocean, breathing sea air , going to port if you want or just staying on the ship.  And night life at a resort is great on weekends but dead during the week and it's hard to meet people plus you pay a lot more and they air line still loses your luggage.

You should have been aware of most of these "issues" when you booked. The cruise lines will no fold when you wirthold your business. Enjoy the All Inclusives.  ken

I agree with Karin.  Stay home!  First of all they do not charge for juice, it's free at the buffet and is served all day.  We were never approached about buying any alcholic drinks unless we were at the bar - duh? You are obviously a very hard to please person if you cannot find anything at all that pleased you.  Good luck and I hope you find a vacation that you can enjoy that lives up to your unreal expectation.  I for one loved my cruise and am getting ready to go enjoy another one. Hopefully I'll live long enough to do several more.

    marlene, I share your pain.Hmm

    marlene:

I have done both and they each have their own merits.  I prefer cruising because with free booze all day at a resort, my DH never made it to dinner.  I ate dinner alone every night.

This is the reason we don't do exclusive vacations. You want to get your money's worth.

As far as rushing goes that was your own fault.  You rushed to here and rushed to there Why!  On a cruise you don't have to go anywhere at anytime.

Our friends, who were first time cruisers tried to see it all and do it all. They did admit it was their fault, not Carnivals. Kind of like when people go to Disneyland the first time.

You don't even have to leave your room if you don't want to.

I had to leave the room to get my wine at dinner, to get my monkey head, the whale tail, and we left the room to sit on the sun deck with our champagne at 5am.  So I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one.  Wink

Going on a cruise is about the cruise.  Being on a ship on the ocean, breathing sea air , going to port if you want or just staying on the ship.

It is all about choice. My problem is they aren't long enough and hubby doesn't have the kind of leave I do.

I wanted so much to have a good time on my all exclusive resort vacation.  I found not knowing where to go we missed so much.  I enjoyed it but LOVE cruising.
