cabbage beach - still free? still a great deal?

dh and i are celebrating our anniversary with a cruise :D and are planning to do some light shopping in the morning at nassau, then hit a beach after lunch. on my last cruise, we went to cable beach (i *think*, it was right behind two or three hotels) but i have heard tell of cabbage beach, and it sounds wonderful.

is it still free? are there still drinks? can i still rent a chair? i found some threads a few months old, and wanted to know if anyone had been there recently and still loves it.

also, if anyone reading this is on the sensation 10/4 and wants to buddy up on a cab to port lucaya in freeport and/or hop on our possible cabbage beach adventure, chime in :D

Cabbage beach is still public (free). They still have the rum in a coconut and chairs for rent. The taxi ride was $4 per person, plus a toll fee which I think was either 1 or 2 dollars. Hope you have a great cruise!

dh and i were figuring we'd do some shopping at nassau in the am, head back to the ship for lunch, then hit the beach, maybe 2pm-ish. we have late dinner, but probably will only be at the beach for a couple of hours... i'm open to suggestion though :D i'm thinking it would be warmer in the afternoon for swimming.

it is. $10 a chair, $20 a coconut. our 'bartender' said we got five refills. it was worth it. if you want more than one chair, barter - we got two for $15 and there were four of us.
