DW and I plan on arriving on Friday, and staying at the Radisson at the Port. We stayed there in 2007 before a Carnival Glory cruise, and it was very nice. They also shuttled us over to the ship. We are looking forward to cruising from Port Canaveral again. Hope to meet new friends!

ckcb,  Hi guys.  I am Rob, live in Schaumburg, ILLINOIS, just northwest of Chicago.  Yep, looking forward to meeting you and everyone else in our Dream Forum.  Hey guys, some other great news too.  Today my daughter received her acceptance letter from Ball St University.  Its in Muncie, Inidana, just northeast of Indianapolis.  She will be with me on our cruise.  Will be talking with you some more before the cruise.

Nice to meet you Rob. DW and I live in the Roanoke Valley between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains of VA. We look forward to meeting you and your daughter, as well as everyone in this roll call. We have made some great friends during our cruise vacations, and this will be our 6th Carnival cruise. We have a 22 year old daughter, but she is married now, and will not be going with us on this cruise. Congrats on the good news about your daughter. You must be very proud of her!

Well, I decided to upgrade today, and we are now booked in a Cloud 9 spa suite on Panorama deck. We were in a category 11 suite during our May cruise on the Splendor and really enjoyed it, so we made the decision to go for it. My DW deals with so much in her daily life, so I really want to do this for her because she is special! (We will also be celebrating 29 years of simmering hatred...oops, I mean marital bliss).

To offset the cost to upgrade to the spa suite, I have decided to drive to Cape Canaveral instead of flying. I changed our reservation at the Radisson to a "Park and Sail Package" so that we can leave our vehicle at the hotel during the cruise. The cost is $139 for one night's stay plus 7 days parking for the cruise. A hot buffet breakfast for 2 is also included.That will save us $105 in parking fees at the port, so it is well worth it. The last time that we lodged there, I noticed that the Radisson had a secure parking lot which was gated. You had to use your room key or a scan card to get into the lot. I am so looking forward to this cruise!!! No Seabiscuit, park and sail doesn't mean we park on the ship. It is a cruise ship, not a ferry...

Jane and I now have our first tour booked! We are going cave tubing while in Belize. I have read many great reviews and recommendations about cave-tubing.com as being very safe and professional, so we have reservations on the 19th of May. They also offer a ATV-jungle tour which looks like it would be a blast! Only 199 more days.

Hi guys........just got home from my Glory October 24, 2009 cruise.  It was great!   Super weather, maybe too many cold drinks in my hand during the cruise, st thomas and st maarten were great, and nassau was as usual, ok. Had 3 days at sea and only 1 of em had some afternoon heavy showers which disappeared after about 1 1/2 hours.  Food was good, ate a bit too much but at least I now have about 7 months to lose the weight I gained....haha!    Another thing here....I have been on Roanoke, Va before and the scenery sure is beautiful.

 Hi Royce and Chasity. It looks like between "Carnival Connections" and "Cruise Critic", we will have several groups staying at the Radisson! It has such a nice pool area and bar, and is so convenient to the port. So looking forward to a wonderful cruise and new friends.

Rob, glad you enjoyed your Glory cruise! We sailed on her in April of 2007, but we were on the Western route. I got hurt while drving a powerboat in Cozumel and missed seeing Belize and Costa Maya. My DW Jane caught the dreaded Norovirus and she also missed those two ports of call. We are so excited about getting another chance to go there!

We did go to the Eastern Caribbean in 2008 on the Carnival Liberty. It turned out to be our favorite ship and itinerary to date. We went to San Juan, St Thomas, Antigua, Tortola, and of course...Nassau.

 

 

ckcb4us,  Hey, talk about getting hurt while on a cruise, I hurt my shoulder, and eneded up going to the Infirmary, while participating in the Battle of the Sexes game!  I was running during the game and slipped on water on the deck.  Their doctor told me I had a "soft tissue injury" to my right shoulder, right upper and lower arm also.  This happened 10/29/09 during the afternoon and I still have pain and use of shoulder still is sore and restrictive.  It also wakes my up at night, but it IS a bit better than a few days ago.  

About Cozumel, yep, I agree that it is a great port to visit while cruising.  Not quite sure yet, but find I am thinking about staying at the Radisson near Port Canaveral.  If we do make plans to stay there, I will certainly let you guys know.  That way will be able to start our vacation the day before the cruise, which now is only 6 1/2 months away.  It is still a long way off, but aleady a month has gone by since I booked the cruise...can't wait, but guess i will have to.

Well, Jane and I are now booked for our Cozumel beach break. We decided not to risk powerboating again, so we are going to spend the day at the Nachi Cocom beach resort. We also put down a deposit on the tandem parasailing while we are there. Jane has done parasailing several times, but this will be my first. You see, I don't handle heights very well (unless I am inside a building or surrounded by an airplane fuselage), but I promised her I would go with her this time. I will make sure that I will have consumed large quantities of Tequila before I go...LOL

 I am too Chicken to try parasailing.  I am like you regarding heights.  Inside a building or aircraft I am fine, other than that not good at all.  Is Nachi Cocom beach resort supposed to be nice?  I suppose it must be or you and your wife wouldn't even think of going there.  LIke you, I would need to consume, in my case, lots of Absolute vodka just for me to even think about parasailing.

I was on Carnival.com checking out pricing for our cruise this evening, and discovered that our spa suite (category SS) had decreased by $30/pp for our booking. Since we booked using "Early Saver", we will receive and extra 30 bucks each as an on-board credit! I filled out the price protection form online, and submiited it to Carnival. I really like this "Early Saver" program!

 Hey,  Thats great news for you and your DW. Seems like I need to check up on the fares more often....might be able to get a reduction in my fare also.
