Oops, sorry Cruisefan, I meant to answer your question as well....The boat ride on the Wallace River is nice and slow...not rough at all. Nice relaxing and plenty of opportunity for photo opts, lots of iguanas in the trees and they are huge!! If you're lucky you will see monkeys, we did get lucky and saw a few towards the end of the river trip, but I know others who didn't see any on the same tour. Saw 2 crocks, and the boat guide even takes the boat in close so you can get pics...some of my favorite cruise photos are from this trip...As for the ruins, they are very small, but nice, you can stand in one spot and see all of them. The ground is flat and not a problem for walking. There is one large temple and you are able to climb the stairs to the top of it. Usually the whole group climbs up together, take your photos from there and then down the back side. I think we had like 1/2 hour at the ruins, more than enough time, heck, I walked and looked at the ruins, climbed to top of the temple, and still got in some shopping in from the venders set up here.  I can send you a sample pic if you would like to your email? The boat ride, and bus ride through the countryside, was the highlight of this tour...the ruins were nice, but nothing like others I've been to. You will still love this tour, if you like wildlife and a relaxing day!

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

Yay...so today was final payment, indeed we are getting closer! We paid off a few weeks ago. So cruisefan, what excursions are you doing? Ive booked all ours too, but I book privately, not through Carnival. GC we are doing the royal dolphin swim with dolphin discovery then just shopping in Georgetown and stopping for a drink and fun times in Margaritaville. Cozumel we are doing a beach day at Nachi Cocum, our favorite beach we've ever been to on a cruise. In Roatan we are doing an Island tour and beach stop with Victor Bodden, and in Belize we doing snorkeling at shark ray alley and caye caulker with Coral Breeze tours. I'm so excited and I know that once the Holidays are over I will be so ready for vacation.I am a Florist and we are coming up on some long busy weeks, both in Nov and Dec...I'll cruise and recover just in time for Valentines day.

There really isn't many of us on this roll call is there? Many more of us over at cruise critic roll call. You should all come and check us out over there. We are going to plan a meet and greet on embarkation day. Hope everyone has a nice week, and in case I don't come back on, have a Happy Halloween !

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

well just 70 days for us before we get in the car and make the journey south!!!  we have booked our excursions, ended up doing it all through carnival for 2 reasons- #1-- we have a credit they gave us to make up for a mistake on their part and #2- one of the excursions won't book privately and the other is the same price through carnival as it is on their own website so i figured i'd just do it through carnival then.  we are doing the altun ha and river wallace and i got my new camera yesterday so can't wait!  we're visiting the park in roatan and then doing some snorkeling. going to do the atlantis sub in grand cayman and shopping/hitting the margarita bar in cozumel!!!!   can't wait!!!!!!  ONE QUESTION:  the way we eat on a daily basis- the dining room alone on the ships are more than enough to impress us and we always find what we want and find it delightful.  is skipping out on the supper club a real deal breaker?  i hate to shell out another $60 (this is by far becoming one of our most expensive cruises already between upgrading the room, excursions, ect).  i know the supper club has top notch service and food but i can be pleased even at the buffet----any thoughts?

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

We have never tried the supper club...never even been tempted. We enjoy the dining room food, service, and usually our table mates so much, we just can't see the need to spend money on food when it's free for the price of the cruise. Seems a waste of money to us...I would rather save the money and apply toward our next cruise. Heck, we have always booked and inside cabin because we like to save money. This cruise we were booking a window, only because of Shelby being with us, we wanted the couch gives a little more room and it's easier than a pull down bunk. Our travel agent ended up telling us that for 50 dollars more per person, he could upgrade us to a extended balcony, and give us $50 OBC per person, which actually meant it was same price as the ocean view...So of course for only $150 more,(and $150 OBC) we took the balcony!  Everyone tells us that we will never wnat to go back to a inside cabin, but if it means the difference of one cruise a year vs 2, I think we will book inside again! We have been tossing the idea around of trying the supper club since we have the OBC...still haven't decided for sure though. We have a total of $250 OBC for this cruise, $150 with the upgrade cabin and $100 because last year we purchased "future cruise vouchers" on the Valor and they were $100 which was used as a deposit toward your next cruise and then they would give you a free $100 OBC...so kind of sweet to have the OBC this time. The OBC cannot be used toward gratuity, so we will have to use it buying something, so maybe the fancy dining? I would rather use it in Bingo, for a chance to win more cash, or a cruise LOL. Cruise fan come over to our rol call on cruise critic dot com...we are pretty active bunch there. Have a nice day everyone.

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

Wow, where is everyone on this roll call? If it wasn't for the roll call at cruise critic, I would think I was the only one sailing this week! Down to only 52 days now....I would think everyone would be gettting excited and the boards will be getting really active, hmmmmm does no one come on the roll calls at Carnival any longer? If there is anyone else out there, stop on by and chat once in a while. I'm getting so excited....We are going to Channelside this weekend again to watch the Legend leave. I hope that if anyone is reading this, you have a wonderful Thanksgiving...

Not much conversation, that is for sure.

Well, we just overpaid by booking all our excursions through Carnival... but the piece of mind is an offset to the extra cost.

     Stingray/hell/turtles in Cayman

    Dolphins in Cozumel

    Sailing and Snorkeling in Belieze

    Kayak and snorkel in Roatan.

Made hotel reservations for Tampa for the night before the cruise.

I think we're just about done with planning now.
