    Roll Call - Conquest - 01/03/2010 - Anyone Else??

First cruise on 01/03/2010. Anyone else planning to be on this cruise? Beginning to think this must not be a good cruise. Seems no one else is going!!!!

Yeah, I thought we were going to be alone too until I saw your post. Six of us from Ft. Smith, Arkansas. I am a previous cruiser, everyone else, first time. Hope you have a great time. It's addicting!

I am sooo ready for this vacation. There will be a group of 9 going. All of them but me are from the Dallas area. I am from South Central TX area, in a little town half way between Houston & San Antonio.  Great to hear we are not alone on this cruise.

We are ready too. We booked early and time always seems to drag waiting for good stuff. I have never been on the Conquest but have cruised almost the same itinerary before. You will enjoy all the ports. Jamaica can be a little aggressive but you just have to remember they're very poor and competing with other people to make a buck. I mostly suggest staying with your group in Jamaica but don't want to scare anyone. You will like it there. Leave the stress at home and have a great time.

My husband and I will be there. I have never been seen the ocean so I am in for a treat! I can't wait to get out of the cold Kansas weather in January!!

We will also be on this cruise! Two families from the Austin area (7 of us total) Do any of you have kiddos going? We have a 6, 8, 10 yr olds going. I am also the only one out of our group who has cruised before, but that was the bahamas. Very excited!!  2mos, 20days, 17hrs, 19mins till we depart:)

Our group will have 2 toddlers going - a 3 1/2 yr old & a 2 yr old. Most of us have never cruised before, but very excited to go. I am glad to finally hear from others that are going on this cruise. I have been reading a lot of info on these sites and have learned a lot from others that have been on cruises before.

First time cruisers! My daughter, my mother, and myself are SO looking forward to this. I look forward to reading through the forum to figure out what to expect.

So, what excursions do you all have planned.

We will be joining you!!! Husband, daughter, her boyfriend & myself. We were on the Conquest the same week this past January. Great tme to cruise, last year we had beautiful weather the whole week. We are from Fredericksburg just west of Austin, daughters boyfriend is from San Antonio.

We have the Twister excursion booked in Coz, kids are doing a snorkel excursion in GC & we are still undecided in MoBay. Leaning towards Sunset Beach. This will be our 3rd time to stop in MoBay. This is a beautiful island but the people are pushy in certain areas. Would love to go to Margaritaville for a little while but don't care to go to any of the shopping areas.

Just think 8 weeks today!!!!! The time will fly once we get to Thanksgiving. We did have an issue with fog last year, didn't get to board til around 4pm, everyone needs to keep chanting "NO FOG, NO FOG, NO FOG" as soon as you wake up that Sunday morning.

    Happy Cruising!

Re: Roll Call - Conquest - 01/03/2010 - Anyone Else??

    Hi everyone,

I think Blynn meant for us to post something about the fun side of excursions so excuse my tangent. It's your cruise and you deserve to spend your time as you wish. I’ve seen many posters give advice about Jamaica and being careful there. Everyone says you should avoid the market areas and honestly, I can't disagree with that much. I have been to Jamaica before and the vendors do rattle your cage to get you to buy their stuff. I also understand how people don't want their family accosted while on vacation. But, here's the catch. Try to understand how blessed you are. Many of these folks spend years watching the cruise ships come in and out. With great envy they watch us sail on to another beautiful port while dreaming it could be them going to a better place. Sadly, most of them will never get the opportunity to go anywhere and are forced to play the hand they were dealt. They hassle you hard because they're trying to make a living and a bit too desperate to understand that it actually hinders their sales. If you can endure a few moments of hassle, go by and throw these folks a bone. We’re going to see all we can but like to give back a bit as well. My wife grew up dirt poor in rural Thailand. She can never forget her very tough childhood and I don't want her to. We are visiting the Lethe Village. My kids are saving some money and packing a few small toys. Along the way they plan to make pals with some of the children and donate the money and toys to someone in need. Of course, safety will be the number one priority.By all means, use my post as you wish, or simply ignore it. This is probably not the proper forum to discuss some of these issues and I apologize. But, make no mistake about it. If you're sailing on the Conquest, all the food and fun you want, interior room or suite, you’re blessed. Many in the world we live in only dream of it. Have a wonderful time everyone. Continue to be blessed.Big Smile

That's a small world - there are 10 of us going from Bentonville, Arkansas!   This is our 3rd time - we love it!
