    We loved Mazatlan

My wife and i visited for her 40th birthday.  We both have been to Mexicon; but found this location to be our absolute favorite to date.  It seemed well developed with beach resorts and nightlife and yet somehow seemd more authentic and less touristy than other locations.  We discovered that Mexican nationals like to vacation here.  In fact, many restaurants and shop keepers greeted us in spanish rather than english.  (translation: spanish is still the dominant language rather than "tourist").  We toured the sierra madres and loved the colonial villages.  We loved the neighborhood bakeries and the open-air markets and the covered main marketplace downtown.  This whole expereince seemed like "real" Mexico.  We are anxious to return with our children and share the experience.  Needless to say the seafood is simply outstanding and the mexican food was superb.  This location left no desire unfilled.  Bravo!

Ok so here's my take on Mazatlan:  The last time I visited was in 1987 and boy has it growned and I mean growned!!!  It's wall to wall resorts/hotels and stores and lots of Senior Frog stores.  I did like the open air taxi's.  It was a warmer day and it was wonderful to ride around in the open air taxi viewing the sites.  I'm not sure if I would stay for a week at a resort/hotel with all the vendors that hound you on the beach.  They even bother you pool side from the edge of any resort/hotel.  It never stops!!!  I'm not saying don't ever visit, but only for a day or two.  I was glad to get back on the ship to leave and move on to the next port.

I agree with you both, Mazatlan is a very beautiful townParadise, the people are very friendlySmile . Wife and me only have one complaint, The port itself, we saw trash Ick! floating all around the water, It just did not look clean like the other two ports we where in.Next cruise there we will keep our eyes close till we are out of sight of the port waters...LOL

     Hello everyone,

I'm a third tim Mexican cruiser, but have not yet been to Mazatlan, and will port the first week in December.  Did anyone experience the "Shopping, Beach, and Lunch" excursion?  It is only $50, but I still want to make sure that it is worth it, and want to know if it necessary.  Is it easy to walk around Mazatlan?  Thank you!

    Happy Cruising,
    Kristina

We are going on that Mexican Show, Sightseeing & Shopping excursion in Mazatlan and are also wondering how it is.
