    Lizz,

So Bill tells them he will want X amount of entrees and they bring them all at once or does the waiter go back for them?  Is this what they prefer to being told later on you want another one?

After reading the book it seems like the waiters have entrees squirreled away for themselves too and sometimes there isn't much of a chance to eat.

The book: Cruise Confidential by: Brian David Bruns. I borrowed the book from Regina before she left but I would think you could get this book at a major book store or order it from Amazon.

    irishlizz:

Bill orders his multiples when we order dinner and the waitstaff serves them accordingly.

Yeah.  When Bill orders he goes down the menu orders his appetizer(s), then entree and we have always had waitstaff that pays attention and brings the second appetizer and or entree when he is finished with the first one.  I don't know if this what they "prefer" but no one ever seems to have a problem with it. To me if you KNOW you are going to order more than one of something it makes more sense to tell them when you first order.  We also tip the waitstaff quite well at the end of the cruise for their hard work.

We always order multiples in the dining room, mostly the appetizers/starters - usually 3-4 each at lunch and dinner.  If we order an extra main course at dinner, we normally split it.  My husband always orders 2 Mongolian Steak Salads at lunch - delicious and only available on one day.

I got my copy of "Cruise Confidential" at amazon.com.

Yes, you may order multiple entree's or whatever you may want. There is not a limit at all, you just simply finish your meal and then ask for more. They will give it to you with no problem.

Again, where exactly does Carnival say you can do that ?

I don't know where it says that exactly but I know for sure you can do it. Everyone here is telling you the same thing but you're still questioning it. Just go on your cruise and order multiples and see if you get it, then come back and tell me exactly where it it is wriiten down.

You know I've never tried the Mongolian Steak Salad.  Maybe in September if they have it at lunch I will have to give it a try.  Bill and I love all the soups and don't hesitate to order two at dinner if they are two that we like.   My favorite soup is a lunch time soup, the chilled curried apple soup.   Oh my god to die for!

I know people do it.  The reason I started this thread, was to find out where, if anywhere, it was written down.

I am questioning it because on the Kitchen/Galley tour talk, they mentioned that waiters can't place more dinner orders than the number of passengers they are assigned to serve.   That just piqued my curiosity to ask, then how do waiters manage to do it?   If you don't know, well, I don't either.  So, that's OK.

His title is Food and Beverage Manager, and I question if he ever used the system from one of the waitstaff terminals.

Anyway, order all you want - nobody will be denied food. On rare occasions they may run out of something, but highly unlikely. After all, they have that computer system!

I promise to ask on the Legend in 21 days and maybe we can put this to rest. If I can't get an answer on the galley tour, we are planning to do the "Behind the Fun" tour of the ship. It is limited to 16 guests, so assuming that we are able to book it, we should have ample opportunity to get all our questions answered. I will say, I may not be able to get them to recite "chapter and verse" where the policy is written, but I will find out, from a practical standpoint, what the policy is with the computer and if the waiters have to do something sneaky to give us all those extra entrees.

Oh, and I promise to ask in such a way that it does not inspire any Carnival dining staff *** to find a way to stop us all from gorging ourselves shamelessly as we cruise! ^รด^

Like most computer systems, there is a key to push. So let's say they have 8 people table 1.  Table one has seats assigned, 1 to 8... they put the dinner orders in by table and seat #... seat #3 wants a second dinner, they push the button that says............ table 1 seat 3, (2nd ... 3rd.. 4th order)... They only have to show it is being ordered for a table and seat # regardless of the number being ordered by that person.   Maybe you have noticed, the Maitre'D  cruise by a table just to make certain the order is actually going to the table (especially with multiple. multiple order), not to the waiter's room.  But since there are different people bringing food to the waiters at the table, it would be difficult for them to order meals that were not intended for the table.

I would order and have ordered more than 1 of everything. I fact on the 1st day of sailing, our group enjoys a varitiy of cheeses (mostly danish blue) and assorted crackers, and the waiter will have that waiting for us when we sit down, in fact soooo much, for a party of 4 we have enough of 8 or more, remember, eat, drink & be *** to. Love the service, then food, and the rest is history.
