    Re: Holiday Inn Express

It does not appear to based on their web-site.  The next closest HI Express on state rd 84 does have a pool but seems to be a bit pricier.

I use this brand of hotel when travelling.  I found much better pricing at the HI Express Plantation (just 6-10 miles west of the port).  It also has a pool.

We cruise in March and the price difference between these locations was significant.  i.e. for the night of 3/20:  $168 for the 17th street, $192 for the state rd 84 and $127 for Plantation.....

So, if you're driving, you may want to investigate the Plantation location.  I have found this chain to be of consistent good quality and the only issue I have ever had was last week in Kentucky.....  The thermostat for the indoor pool was on the fritz and the pool was too WARM.....  was actually warmer than the hot tub....

The included 'quick-start' breakfast is great and has a generous selection of items available.  Variety of cereals, eggs, bacon, omlets, biscuits/gravy, cinnamon rolls, variety of breads/bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt (including low fat), milk (including skim), juices, etc.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

    Re: Holiday Inn Express

I'm actually flying there with my 2 daughters for Feb 27th cruise. I found on Expedia for that hotel that I'm talking about for 185.00 cdn and 168 us....what about Bahia Mar, did you hear anything about that one????

    Re: Holiday Inn Express

Sorry, never heard of that one.  But, I have found going to each chain's site typically provides the same rate as Expedia.  I quoted the prices above from HI Express (hotel intercontinental) site.  Sometimes they have some 'deals' they don't offer the Expedia type sites.  Doesn't hurt to check and ask.

The Bahia Mar looks like a nice place for the price.  I work for a company that has a corporate discount program for hotel intercontinental (by choice of each individual location) and I get a great rate at the HI Express Plantation (discount not recognized at other FLL HI locations.....it will be spring break) So for me.....  it works.  The less I spend on hotels, the more I get to spend on the ship/islands!!!!

I have even found a few hotels that will offer you a discount if you are a first time user of their chain.  Also, if you travel regularly, it pays off over time to join the 'rewards' clubs of your favorite chain.  Typically free to do this.  So for me my points add up even when I stay at a location that offers a 'really good' corporate rate for my company (and I don't have to be on business travel to get the 'cheaper' rates!!!)  Just dropped my oldest off at college 5 hours away and saved $4 using the corporate rate.  Not much for this particular location but at Plantation HI Express, I'll save a lot more!!!  (my company must do a lot of business at this particular location!!!)

Have a great time on your cruise.  I'm also taking my 2 daughters on the Freedom (in March) for spring break!!!!
