You have cruised before-What would you not take or not do next cruise?

You have cruised before-What would you not take or not do next cruise? As you plan your next cruise you have thoughts about how you packed to much, or took to much on this past cruise or to little of this last cruise and then you have booked your next cruise. What would you do or not do on your next cruise? A 3 day, 4 day, 7 day or longer?

I'm all for as long as possible!  Went on 8 day last cruise and booked 8 day for May to Panama.  Don't over pack.  When checking in on line for the airline, if given the option to upgrade to first class....DO IT.  We went Airtran out of Pgh  and upgraded  for $69 each.  When upgraded, they don't charge you for your luggage.  We each had 2 pieces which would have cost us $40 so really the upgrade only cost us $29 each.  Coming home it was a little more but still worth the money.  I like to book as few ports as possible so that you aren't running every day and there is no time to relax.  Balcony rooms are nice too.

That's some very good info.  We hope to do the Panama from Miami to San Diego in Oct 2009 . .on another cruise line. . .sorry CCL.  It would be a 15 day and will require some wheeling and dealing with airlines.  As we all know, we can pack a 90lb bag for a cruise ship but can't put it on an airline at check in with out paying mega bucks.

A multi plug outlet, theres only one outlet in the room and one in the bathroom hiding up top. I always overpack but I bring everything on hangers so it's not a big deal.  I prefer 7 days, with 4 you're just getting used to the boat. We did 8 days in March and I was ready by then, my husband could've stayed longer, but I'd done everything already.  Couldn't handle another show!

I'd been on two 4-day cruises; took my boyfriend on the second. Not enough time! We're going on an 8-day cruise in October. Last time, I was seasick a lot. I will definitely get the patches to go behind my ears - any other tips from anyone?

Also we were a bit lazy last time. We'll  definitely be wanting to do more this time!

Trying to take more shirts that would interchange with slacks and shorts to make my wardrobe look bigger than it is.  A multi plug is a must, as well as a very small high powered fan.. some rooms are very warm.  5 day is the shortest cruise I would take and preferably nothing less than 7.... : ).   even on the 5 day one I was on you barely learned where your room was when it was time to get off.  But I think I could live on a cruise ship and visit home... lol.  And I actually spend such little time in my room, and not listen to people that only have negative things to say.....

    Packing

For a cruise of 6 days or longer, I plan to do laundry.  People say they won't wash clothes on vacation, but it is worth it to me.  Or, you can pay to have the ship wash and fold your laundry.  I'm VIP now and get free laundry and fold service (YEA!), but I used to wash one load myself in the coin-operated machines on about the third day. I'd wash shorts, t-shirts, pants, underwear, socks, etc.  Toss them in, go have fun, put them in the dryer, go have fun, fold and take back to your room.  There's an iron and ironing board in the laundry rooms, if needed.  I always wear home the same clothes I wore to embark - but clean.

    Hangers

For me - it's necessary.  I bring about 5 thin wire hangers and consider them disposable.  For the first couple of days I always need more hangers; I hang up just about everything except shorts and underwear.

I cruised with 3 others last time and found this hanger assist most helpful.  There are two choices.

    Metal https://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/hang_casc_ontv.html

or plastic http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/wnd_hang_ontv.html which is cheaper

I had all my clothes on the hangers already, in order in my suitcase.  I just hung one of these, and hung my clothes and was done in 5 minutes!

I like the hanger thing you must bring zip lock baggies and binoculars. We always wheel on pepsi and mountain dew to start not alot because you can also get it at the ports but we are not coke people and unfortunately carnival is.We use the zip locks for anything from shells to sandwiches to take on excursions to the beach. The fan is also good when we stay in an inside room you definately need a fan. Ten days until we leave can't wait
