    Idea [I] Carnival.com restricts/limits cabin selections?

When I go to make a reservation for another cruise, doing it on-line at Carnival.com, it only seems to offer just 10 or so cabins to pick from, in a particular category.

I am quite sure that for a cruise that about a year out, there must be more than just those 10 cabins still available.

Is there any way to confirm if I am correct? That there are more cabins than just the 10 offered, and if so, how to I go about reserving one of those?

The problem is that the 10 cabins being offered are all clustered together, on one part of the deck.  I would like a cabin in another part of the deck.  And yes, I am talking about cabins in the same category.

Use a real human such as a PVP or travel agent. They can get you into cabins that won't show up on the website, and perhaps find you a better fare along the way.

Walt, you are right they do limit the number of cabins shown online, to find out what is available just give them a call, you will be able to find other cabins. and hopefully ones that are in the area of the ship you want

You're absolutely right but I'd suggest that you speak directly to a personal vacation specialist. I was checking available cabins aboard the Victory cruise ship and all the website would give me were rooms on the 2nd deck. I don't like being too close to the shore line but when I called I got a cabin on the 6th deck for the same price.

I just want to take a moment to thank you all.

I just made my reservations for my next cruise, and I got the exact cabin I wanted!!

I believe they limit the number are displayed to a reasonable number.  They don't want to 'tip' competitors scanning the ship to see how full or empty they are.  Also, they recently changed their category system to divide each deck into 3 sections, so an inside cabin at the front of the ship is a different and usually lower price than an inside cabin in the middle of the ship on the same deck.

I always call carnival directly to talk to a rep and ask specifically about a certain cabin if I can't see it available.  Also, if you only have 2 people they won't show cabins that can hold 3 or 4 people even if they are available because they want to hold that cabin to allow those with 3 or 4 guest to have something available.

Hi!  Travel Agents books groups of cabins, that is one of the reasons why you only see a few rooms on the website.  You can ask your TA or Carnival rep for a certain room # to see if it's already booked.  Don't be surprised to find out that it is booked!  I personally book my cruises at least 18 months + ahead of time!  Popular cruises are sold out months before their sail dates!  I'm already looking for prices in 2012 for Panama Canal - they are not out yet, but they will start to be published in about 5-6 months or so.  The earlier you book the better your price.  Happy cruise planning.

Carnival.com (and ALL on-line sites) only show ten available cabins in each (sub) Category.  It's really best to study your deck plans for the locations you'd like and then call a PVP (or TA) who can view all available cabins and help you select.  ken

I understand their reasoning, but it would be sure nice if they are only going to show ten, that they spread them around a bit, instead of showing you ten cabins all clustered together.  Unless one is into numerology, picking between 2341, 2344, or 2345 isn't much of big difference.

as other posters stated, call carnival and speak to them directly. i booked 2 cabins for me and my friends.. and i had already researched cabins because we wanted to be more center and not over possible loud noises lol. basic balcony too up front, then i went in to edit and clicked on 8B and got better rooms.. so i called caroline my pvp and she asked if i had specific cabins and i gave her the 2 we were interested in especially as we had 4 in one cabin and 2 in the other so trying to get next door was impossible but was able to get 1 room apart. so as she was looking into it, she said, would you like the connecting rooms (the room in between us) woohoo.. sure, we don't want to disturb them. soooooo as the saying goes, call the pvp, they give you the same price your seeing online with carnival.com :) have a great trip!

Call me suspicious, but the few times I've checked the displayed cabins, they're generally in the least desirable location. ken
