We will be sailing on our 9th cruise with at least two other couples.cousins that we got hooked on crusing .it will be there 2 and 3rd cruises, there 1st from the west coast our 3rd from the west coast and our second from long beach to the same ports. We prefer the west coast. We cant wait to visit the tequile factorys ,that is a great tour,my wifes favorite. It will be our first cruise on the splendor and from what i have read its a great ship. We are from Indiana and of course Colts fans and our cousins are from Pa. and of course steeler fans. Now we are trying to decide where to go for our 10th cruise so we can use our 10th cruise comps.,going to try to book balcony. We hope to see you all on board.Caint wait...........denny and dex

Tequilla factory tour sounds fun! However, I've got my  19 and 17yr old kids to think of too, not sure if this would be a fun tour for them!

Denny and Dex; you've used this port before, do you fly in/out of LAX? We're trying to decide whether or not to change our outgoing flight after the cruise. The departure time has been changed a few times and is now at 11:30am. We're not sure if that will give us enough time to disembark and get to the airport. What do you think?

Has anyone ever done or will be doing the whale watching in Cabo?

    I just can't wait!!  =)

Re: February 21, 2010 Roll Call

THE LAST TIME WE FLEX INTO LAX BUT THIS TIME WE ARE FLYING IN TO ORANGE COUNTY DUE TO PRICE. BOTH AIRPORTS ARE ABOUT THE SAME DISTANCE FROM LONG BEACH  WHERE THE SHIP DOCKS. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A 1PM OR AFTER FLIGHTYOU SHOULD BE OKAY. A 11:30 FLIGHT MAYBE CUTTING IT VERY CLOSE.FROM LONG BEACH TO AIRPORT WILL TAKE YOU AT LEAST 35 MIN AS LONG AS NOW DELAYS. YOU MAY WANT TO REQUEST EARLY DEPARTURE FROM THE SHIP AND TAKE CARNIVALS TRANSFERS TO LAX. WE ARE NOT FLYING BACK TILL MONDAY MORNING DUE TO THE DEPARTURE TIMES ON SUBDAY TO INDY AND PIT..IM SURE YOUR 19 AND 17 WILL ENJOY THE TOUR ALSO AS WE DO STOP AT SEVERAL OTHER PLACES OF COURSE NO TASTING ALLOUND FOR THEM.LOL

You may see a few whales on the way south from long beach. Must see in cobo is sammy hagars bar. kids are aloud..take the bicycle powered taxis there a blast and cheap only a few minuate ride from the dock to downtown and the guys are a blast. they were racing each other on our ride back to port.and they will meet you anywhere and the time you want to take you back to port..that would be fun for the kids

that sounds fun! We've got Cabo Wabo on the list of must dos, actually I think it was the  first thing on the list! Says alot about us I guess Big Smile

Getting so excited, especially since I just realized we're almost under 100 days till we sail! We've been booked for about a year, so 100 days seems like nothing!

How many people can fit onto one of the  bike taxis?

Too bad they do not spend more time in Cabo!

Another group of 4 to add to the list for the February 21/10 departure on Splendor.  We are a family with 2 children (daughter 7 and son 4) from Calgary, Alberta who will be cruising for the first time.  We arrive in Los Angeles on the 17th to enjoy 3 days of fun at Disneyland before the cruise.  The children's grandma stays in Mazatlan for the winters to escape our cold, so it will be exciting for everyone to see her for the day on the 25th.  The family is looking at possibly swimming with the dolphins, deep sea fishing, and/or golfing for Dad.  As we just signed up for our trip a couple of days ago we have a lot to learn before we go.  We are defintitely looking forward to our trip and meeting lots of new people.  Our children don't know of our plans yet, but I'm sure they will be excited about Disneyland, the cruise, and getting a chance to meet new friends.

Welcome Perpar Clan!! WOW sounds like you have a fun trip planned. Your kids will love Disney, how fun! That is the perfect age for Disney too. I bet Grandma is looking forward to seeing you. Does she have any tips for the "must sees" in Mazatlan?

I have played golf at both porta and also manzillo port golf courses are very nice. Carnival rents usally niki clubs. they sre in pretty good shape, but besure to check all clubs as you may be short a club or two.you may have 2 8 irons and no 7 etc.. they usally have caddies also which do expect a tip.they are pretty good though.

Thanks for the welcome.  Just spoke with Grandma and she claims the following to do or see in Old Mazatlan:

The old cathedral, the market behind the cathedral, the malacon(sp?), and stone island.  She also suggested to barter with a taxi driver in an open car called a Pulmonia (possibly for around $20 and they'll take you around the sites.  When you see something or somewhere you like stop and venture off on your own.  Also try some local food at any number of restaurants.  I know she is planning on taking us around in a Pulmonia.

Re: February 21, 2010 Roll Call

Tell Grandma thanks for the insider info! The cathedral looks beautiful and the Malecon does look like something that's a MUST! Everywhere on the boards people rave about Stone Island too, sounds very relaxing. I wonder how many people can fit on the pulmonias? I am trying very hard to not get excited....but it's not working! Thankfully the holiday will make time seem to go much faster.

Bassman, do you just get the clubs at the pursor's desk? My golfing is horrible...or worse...but that's always an option!

I think we've deffinitely decided to do  the whale watching in Cabo and may just go with the Carnival tour as opposed to an independant tour company, just because our time is so limited there, don't want to miss the boat!

    Have a great Sunday!

All you do is make your golf reserverations and they will have them ready for you when time to go. No need to go to the pursers desk.golf reservations are made at the excursions desk or with the on board golf pro.
