    just got off Canada cruise

Here is some info about the 5 night Canadian cruise.

Jorge, cruise director, is great.  He is going on vacation so I hope you catch him.  He made the cruise better.  The ship was nice.  We have cruised on it before and it looks like new.  The rooms were spacious.  The weather was not great.  Be prepared for cold weather.  The fog was so heavy it was hard to see the water.  Rain was also a factor.  Bring a sweatshirt and umbrella and you should be fine.  Food....I would suggest the duck it was amazing.  Also the rack of lamb and the prime rib.  I would skip the lobster.  So small and lacking in taste.  Bring wine.  You can bring one bottle per person although I am sure if you brought more they wouldn't know or care.  Just open it in your stateroom and you are all set.  Parking at the ship is great.  You pay at the gate.  A drug dog is lifted into your trunk and then you are able to park.  We found a space right away and it was easy to get on the ship from there. With 3000 people boarding the ship you would think it was crazy but it went quickly and smoothly.  The two ports were nice.  We followed Jorge's recommendations.  To tour by yourself in St. Johns and ride the on and off bus in Halifax.  St. Johns is very small and we were done by noon.  The reverse tide....when we were there reversed long after we were on the ship so we saw the water but not the reverse tide. There is a great market which was fun to see and tour.  Halifax was interesting.  The bus takes you around the town and you can stop and get off and on as much as you want.  Fun town.  The shows were okay but once again Jorge was great. Wish we didn't do the late seating.  There wasn't anything to do between 6 and 8. Over all a wonderful time. Our waiter was Raymond.  He was so nice. Be sure to tip them extra. They work very hard and only have one lunch off every other cruise!!  Hope you enjoy your curise and that this info helped you.

That part was a joke, right, just to see if any body read it?

By the way, good review, over all.

Sorry, no joke. It was quick but the dog did sniff the luggage.

On the Triumph??  I heard the pool and waterslides were closed...Is this true?  I am traveling with my 8 year old daughter, she can't wait to go on the waterslide!!  It would be a great disappointment if it was closed!!  Do you know what the weather will be like the 1st week of September??

     Thank you

The pools were open some of the time but I never saw the water slide open.  Not sure if it ever was.  The weather was very windy and foggy.  Unsafe I would guess.  The fog horn went off every minute and a half at some points.  Sorry. I hope you have better weather.

Only one pool was open on departure (embarkation) day.  I believe due to the rather cool weather.

The next day, the first full day at sea, two pools were open.

The third day, the slide was finally opened, from noon to 5pm, as well as the third pool.  The slide and third pool remained opened for the rest of the cruise.

My 10 yo really loved the slide.  I had a tough time getting he off of it, at the end of the afternoon.

I guess we all leave with different impressions.

I would say that Jorge was definitely the worse part of the cruise.  I would never want to run into him as a cruise director again on any future cruise.

While most of Jorge's material was good, the bad part of this act was when he belittled and harassed passengers in the audience.  True, some of them faked a smile and tried their best to act like a good sport.  However, others clearly didn't like it.  What Jorge should have done was to apologize to them, back off, and move on.  Instead, if he found the people were getter really upset over this harassment, he would ratchet it up and get even more abusive.  Sorry, but that is pretty unprofessional.

I just got back today from the Aug 1 - 6 cruise to Canada. We lucked out - the weather was very nice. Some fog and one cold day but good overall. All the pools and the waterslide were open. The hot tubs were all closed, which was disappointing. This was our first cruise, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wow, the hot tubs were still closed for repair.  Must be something really wrong with them, or Italian parts aren't stocked in either NYC or Canada.

     Interesting comment.

I never was close enough to see the reactions of the passengers.  I just figured they egged him so he continued.  I would hate to think he was rude to someone that didn't show some interest.  If that was me I would have been upset too.  Thanks for your interpetation and hope you enjoyed your cruise with your son.

I am glad you had better weather.  Crusing is wonderful.  Wish we were still on the ship!

One of Jorge's victims got up (with his wife), to change their seats to somewhere in the back in an attempt to get away from Jorge.  Jorge had the house lights turned 'on' so that he could find where they moved, and continued his harassment.  IMHO, the guy changing seats should have been a clear message to Jorge to back off. That he went too far.

Jorge's act should not be to get laughs at anyone's cost, that's pretty unprofessional if you ask me.

That is awful.  We had the late seating and I never saw anything like that but I wasn't at everything.  I think something should be said about that.

At any rate we had fun and would go again.
