First timer looking for a store & diner

We are coming to San Diego for thanksgiving leaving on the Spirit Nov 27th.  We will arrive Wednesday and are looking for a hotel close to the port, shopping (for soda and sundries) that will offer transportation to the port and from the airport.  The Dana on Mission Bay seems OK from all I've read but I want to know if it is actually close to a good diner for the  holiday and shoping for necessities??  Anyone familiar with the Dana and the immediate area???  I guess it is Mission Bay.  Any suggestions on a great hotel for the holiday??

San, Mission Bay is not near the port. It is within driving distance and I'd estimate a cab ride to be at least 30 or more dollars depending on the traffic.Smile

Do you want a buffet or a more traditional type of dinner?  On shelter island there is Tom Homs or Hams lighthouse that has a holiday buffet and there are hotels. I don't recall seeing any stores there either.

If you aren't getting a rental car stay downtown as they are near the pier and there is Horton Plaza for shopping, and has all your major stores along with lots of smaller ones.

I'll look for another website link for you and post sometime tomorrow. I'll also look at the area around the hotel and search for some stores.
