Hi Everybody,
We will be on the Panama Canal sailing in April. Just did the one on the Pride earlier this year in March and had a ball. Come on, folks...you know you want to do this one.
Ann
Would love to do that one. BUT time away from work is a premium for my honey. Taking that much time off would be difficult. Now, I could go with a girlfriend or my daughter, but that might not go over well with the new hubby...
The Elation is coming to Mobile,Al. and we are excited about it. We've had The Holiday which needed to retire.
Hi Regina,
The Elation will be home ported in Mobile, Alabama starting April 2010. We who live in San Diego are sorry to see it go. I have been on it 3 times last year, and I'm going again on Oct. 29th.
Beverly
Yes, I'm with you on that Beverly. I've been on her quite a bit myself. I'm sailing on her on Oct 26 and again Jan 15. She will be sorely missed!
I hate to say it, but here is some more proof that the Elation is sadly leaving San Diego.

Best Wishes and smooth sailing to you Elation!
Yes that is sad! She is a great ship. However I was excited that John said in the Video that they might have the Paradise go to Cabo on some of it's cruises! We enjoy the 4 day Cabo Cruise! But I just don't know that the Elation can be replaced. We just might have to do one more little 3 day in March to say goodby to our Elation!
I watched John's video and what he failed to mention is that the Spirit and Splendor are long cruises. AND the Paradise only does Catalina and Ensenada. I hope they do have Paradise do the Cabo trip at least a couple times a month. I'm happy for Charleston, but its a bitter happiness. Heck, Mobile doesn't need a ship! They have ALL the ships very close in Florida!!!! I'm bitter...yes...it shows....and I know it doesn't look good on me, but oh well... [:'(]
Regina,
come sail with us on the 8th of January. The prices are great and it could be a post honeymoon cruise.
Too bad we don't have more options on where to cruise.
Hey Diane: I'm sailing already on January 15th...I don't think my new boss would be too happy about me going on back to back vacations. I started my new job in Las Vegas yesterday. So far, so good. I love it!

Not to mention that in Long Beach there are no lower-cost alternatives to the $15 per day parking structure, the check in and debarkation at least to me seems to take soooo much longer, and San Diego will have nothing from Carnival for several months out of the year. Now if they did something like rotate the ship between the ports for sailings every few weeks, that could get interesting. It's about 5 hours down the coast, they could do the ship's turnaround during the south and northbound sailings and still make the regular excursion stops.
Or, make stops in San Diego at the beginning and end of the cruise and allow embarkation and debarkation.
But if they did something like that, it would mean that Carnival actually likes us...

They must like us a little. They are now offering the pack n go on my cruise. I thought for sure they would have another price drop since final payment was on monday.
It would be nice if Carnival would have a cruise from san diego and head up north instead of down south.
Going somewhere different would be nice, but the waters up north are rough. We went on the Splendor up north during the original swine flu detours. The water was rough and it was COLD!! I would be happy if they sent the Paradise down to San Diego every now and then.
We are one of the few who would love to have rough sailing. If it was cold I could finally wear all the winter stuff we have but can't wear here.
Just checked airfair to fly to florida for the Christmas week. 1400 dollars, and to fly to Reno, 773. even Vegas was expensive. Just gives more weight to going on a cruise instead, maybe I'll check long beach and see whats going on from there since we can't go to any weddings that week.
Diane: Vegas is hurting right now. Seems like every news cast on every channel has a story about how much the casinos are struggling. I heard one story that said casinos thought by reducing hotel room costs it would draw more people to Vegas. Well, it worked, but people are still not spending money in the casinos or the restaurants. They are going out getting pizza or burgers and just site seeing. So, even though they may be booked, they are still loosing money. A side note to the story was the fact that the low lodging prices are drawing in a "less classy" crowd and it is resulting in more instances of damage to hotel rooms. So, the casinos are losing all the way around! Better stick with cruising!!
