    mini fridges

So, it's ok to ask them to remove their items from the fridge?

    Paige,

They will remove their stuff from the fridge, but our cabin stewards always have us remove our stuff the night before debarkation, so they can relock it, and do the billing for anything that you may have used.  Even our medications have to be taken out.

Older folk - We are right there with you.

I read that you got special cruises because you protected our freedom - thank you.  Do they still do that for VETs?  What a good thing.  I hope they still do.  Is there a website or something where people can donate money for the cause?

    Paige,

The 4 "special" cruises from the Army, were all overseas transports right after my DH was drafted in the Army in 1950.  That is the way they used to transport our service men and their families.  They didn't get to fly the way they do now.  The ships were rough and when they hit rough weather, it was bad.  It took me a long time to convince my DH to sail on a new ship, to convince him what stabilizers are, etc.

Carnival and some of the other lines offer veterans and their spouses, and sometimes other members of their families very generous discounts nowadays.  We are booked for one this September with our oldest son and his girlfriend, that we paid about 50% of the going rate right now, for each cabin.

I don't think there is anywhere that you can donate to that project, it's just one of their offers.  Your thoughtfulness for his service and for the guys that are out there today defending our freedom is greatly appreciated.

    Re: mini fridges

When we asked our room steward to empty the mini fridge, he did so and put our cokes and bottled waters in there for us (we didn't ask him to do that part).  I made sure I gave him an early tip for this service and he took very good care of us for the rest of the cruise. ;)

Older Folks, I'm surprised you weren't on our Conquest cruise.  Everywhere we went, we met folks in the law enforcement profession.  It was uncanny!  I've never felt so safe on a vacation.

    cruisin-happy:

Are there mini fridges in every cabin on the Conquest?

Yes, there are.  Under FAQ's, Are there mini-bars, this is what's listed:

Are there minibars in the staterooms?

All staterooms will have a stocked minibar. The items will be replenished twice daily as the items are consumed and charged to the guest's Sail & Sign Account along with a 15% restocking charge. If the guest wishes to have the minibar permanently locked, they must contact the Information Desk. The minibar service will be locked on the night prior to debarkation. Offered on the following ships: Spirit, Pride, Legend, Conquest, Glory, Miracle, Valor and aboard the Triumph and Victory in category 11 and 12 suites.

The minibar will be stocked with premium liquor, wine, beer, soft drinks and a variety of sweet/salty snacks.

    Hope that helps.

My last post went to moderation, but, yes, there are mini-fridges in every cabin on the Conquest.

    Slitelyused,

We will send you an email through the Carnival box, be on the lookout for it.  You won't believe the coincidences in your post.  We will be sailing the week after you on the Conquest--you'll be getting off, and we will be getting on!  Hope you have a great cruise.

    Re: mini fridges

The mini fridge will be locked when you get on board. If you want to use it, you just need to ask the steward to unlock it and remove the Carnival supplied food and beverages. They will require you to remove everything on Saturday so that they can put their things back in it and re lock it before Debarkation.

Re: Use of scooters or power chairs

Older folks,,Ron here from San Antonio,,,9/13 will be my first cruise,,,and I do have questions,,,I am 75 and use a Power Chair,( Pronto M51 ) around the house. I have a Pride Celebrity X 3 wheel mobility scooter for the mall,,,WalMart etc: and I have a folding 4 wheel walker which I am taking with me. My walking distance is limited to maybe 100',,,which would be easiest on the Conguest,,,the 3 wheeler scooter, or the Power Chair which can turn on a dime ??,,I am Taking the walker for tendering at Grand Caymon and hope to maybe rent a golf cart or something similar...We also plan on taking a case of bottled water,,,The Cajun drinks lots of water,,,I mix green tea w/lemon Crystal Lites in the water for flavored drinks.. I'll probably limit myself to the drink of the day,,,and one in the  lounge at nite for the shows.,, Of course I never turn down a freebie,,but I do believe they are few and far between if any at all,,we both are so excited,,,cant wait,8 more days and we are off to the Carribean..I'll try to save y'all some food,,,you get on as soon as we get off...guess we'll pass on the dock. Happy Cruising,,,
