    Dress code question

Before I start, I have been on 5 cruises but only 1 with my children.  I have read the dress suggestions for the dining room.  My son is easy as he can wear his pants a couple of times.  My daughter, however, a different story.  She is 10 and tends to be a messy eater and often wipes her hands on her clothing without even thinking!  LOL  She must have an outfit for every night.  I am coming up short on one outfit.  She has a dressy type top but nothing to wear with it.  I was wondering if khaki walking shorts would work.  I don't want her to feel out of place.  Every other night she has skirts and dresses.  Is their one night on the Conquest that is a little more casual?  On past cruises (not Carnival) I always felt the first night was a little more casual because of the luggage delivery system.  I thought maybe she could just wear that outfit the first night.

I love these boards, they are a wealth of information!

    Re: Dress code question

Actually, the shorts outfit you describe would be acceptable on any night with the exception of the formal night.  We noticed on our last cruise (three weeks ago) Carnival had relaxed the dress code in the dining room somewhat.  No one is going to say anything to your daughter anyway.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Cruise and have a good time.

    Re: Dress code question

Khakis would work,  but if you are concerned about her feeling uncomfortable, I would plan to take an hour or so one day during your cruise and wash an outfit or two for her in the laundry. $2.00/wash $2.00/dry. Take a baggy of laundry soap and a couple of fabric softeners. There is an iron available to use in the laundry room and I believe there is a laundry room on each stateroom floor.

    Stephanie

You are right the first night is a little more casual and shorts will be ok.

    They also have Self-Service Launderettes:

Each ship has at least 2 self-service launderettes located on the stateroom decks.

There are two or three washers and dryers, and one iron and ironing board in each launderette. The cost is $2.00 per washer load and $2.00 per dryer load. Vending machines dispense small boxes of detergent and water softener at $1.00 per box.

Note: Due to local environmental requirements, the washing machines in the guest' launderette will be closed in port, per each ports specific requirements; the dryers and irons will be available for guest use.

    Hi Stephanie,

The first night is cruise casual and also come as you are night. You are right. It is about the luggage delivery. Your daughter will be fine in the outfit you described. Have a great cruise.

I have been reading all these threads too.... they are GREAT!    I would like to throw out a very stupid question...

What type of footwear is acceptable?   (other than formal night)

Please don't throw to hard...   Confused

    Re: Dress code question

No flip-flops (shower shoes). Nice sandals are fine.

Basically, anything that you would wear to a nice  restaurant at home is acceptable.

Now, that was a nice easy one-wasnt it? Wink

A little hint...For some wrinkled clothes,we just hang them in the bathroom, with the shower on as hot as possible, and the steam gets the wrinkles out.Just like those steamers on infomercials. There is very little if any effort.Just hang them up and do whatever you feel like doing.Yes
