    Costa Maya and Cozumel

    HI,

We'll be on the Glory on July 11.  I've booked the dolphin excursion in Cozumel.  When the excursion is done and they take you back to the port, is there a beach there or do we then need to take a cab to a beach?  If so, any suggestions?

In Costa Maya, I read that the port has a pool/beach area there.  Is this a reasonable place to spend the day with children?   I also looked at an excursion called Costa Maya Beach Break that someone recommended on this forum but thought if the one at the port is free (is that correct or is there a charge?) then I'd rather do that!

    Thanks!

    Re: Costa Maya and Cozumel

It's been a few years since I hit Costa Maya, and the cruise lines were frantically building resorts eveywhere.  There was a very nice pool area right at the port, with a very large saltwater pool.  Shops and restaurants circling the pool area.  There was a small beach, but not very good, very rocky at the time I was there. Young kids will be very content to hang around that pool area all day.  Older ones, well , a lot do and there is shopping right there as well.

If you feel adventurous, you can catch a cab into the the town area, but it is very small.

I  did and stopped at a small bar area that had it's own beach.  You could order a drink, or soda, and they let you have the use of their beach area, which was much nicer than at the port.

Cozumel did have a beach area close to the port area, but it was private/admission. Of course this was four years ago, and a lot of things have probably changed.  Most of the people who wanted to lounge on a beach went to the National park, Chankanaab.  If you don't want to pay for the excursion there, you can catch a cab to it from the port.  There is an admission fee, but I highly recommend it as a place to try.  Course if you have already been out on an excursion, you might not have time to go there too.

We were there a few years ago before it got destroyed, But yea it had a nice pool that you can swim in and a Bar thats connected to the pool. Pretty nice Beach it was clear, and theres is a lot of shopping.

    Its was nice.

Cozumel isn't to bad when it comes to the Taxi rides we spent $20.00 for a Ride from the Pier to the Playa Mia for 4 of us. So it soundn't be.

In Costa Maya, we caught a $3 cab to a small fishing village about 10 minutes away.  It was the best cruise stop I've ever had.
