    PASSPORT FOR CHILDREN ???

I checked on the state/passport website but its still unclear to me and I called the phone on website and its a recording, I hate recordings, I like to actually talk to a live person.

Does anyone know if a passport is a must for going on the Ensenada cruise for my 7yr old and 7 mo old?

Cruiseline said not to worry, they are not enforcing it but I dont want to chance it...by not getting one, what do you guys know aboutthe passport/cruising situation?

    Thx for the  quick hit-backs!

    Re: PASSPORT FOR CHILDREN ???

    Francis,

If you are on a "Closed-Loop" cruise that departs either from San Diego or Long Beach you do not need a passport for yourself or your children. A "Closed-Loop" cruise is a cruise that departs from a US port and travels to places like Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean and returns to the same port that the ship departed from and the round-trip is considered a single itinerary. Given that a Carnival agent has already told you you don't need a passport it means you must be on a "Closed-Loop" cruise.

At the current time the WHTI has an exception for "Closed-Loop" cruises and there are no plans to change that.

    Enjoy your cruise!
    Cheers,

    Ken
