    Moderated Postings - Please Reply

    To Mr.Jordan Corredera, or to whom ever from the Carnival Staff that actually pays attention to this feedback section

    ```
    I'm Tom (aka) Elkranger from the CoCoNuT Monkeyheads forum here on carnival connections, and a very active longtime member of these forums
    My Question is in reguards to the ongoing post Moderations that have been implemented over the past several months
    Can someone Please inform me & everyone else that uses these public forums as to the reasons why most postings or replies get sent to be Moderated
    I for one can't see any rhyme or reasoning as to how your system of moderation really works
    So if you can explain to all of us just how things get sent to what has been called the "Carnival Cops" we all would appreciate it
    My Questions are:
    1) What constitutes a post to be sent to the moderators
    2) How come so many post seem to get moderated from all of us
    3) Why, especially over the weekend does it take so long for the post to finally appear back on its original message thread ( post NOT showing up till Monday )
    4) Why do messages that definately go against the rules here Always seem to get through without any moderation at all until the person posting these messages finally have enough "Abuse" reports lodged against them, that finally the are locked out of the forums
    ```

    It has made me and alot of other connections users very angry & upset with the way the "Filtering" of your forum message seem to be handled

    What is very aggravating to ALL of us on here is when a post is made, especially from a First Timer Cruiser asking a specific question, and when an active posters replies back, that in most cases the reply goes to the moderation team

    It's very hard to be able to answer those questions for these newer cruisers knowing that the reply will probably go to moderation, and by the time the reply is finally approved and posted, the message thread has moved on in a different direction, or the answer is so far buried that its forgotten about

    So Please help us out here, we need to have answers to this ongoing problem, and maybe some helpful hints as to what gets our messages "Flagged" and sent to moderation

    My Thanks in Advance, Tom (aka) Elkranger MHWC

    just incase it happens to this post i'm time stamping it

    I don't think they are "public forums".  They are privately owned by Carnival, and one has to be registered to post them.  And by registering, you agreed to Carnival's rules.

    Hi Walt,

    These are ALL Public Forums, and even tho have have to register to use them, and agree to the Rules

    The above questions is in reference to how the Moderation Process works

    You being a rather new member to these forums, and I don't know just how active of a poster you are, may not have had any of you post or replies get Moderated

    Thats all were trying to find out, is to How there Moderation Filters & System really works

     Hi Elkranger,

    As some of our users may have noticed, the Carnival Connections forums are a high target for spam/solicitation. In an effort to reduce the number of these postings we changed our moderation process.  Postings that include certain words, links (urls) or html are now flagged for moderation to ensure a Carnival staff member reviews the post to ensure it is not spam.  We have a small staff of forum moderators, which is reduced to a smaller amount of moderators during the weekend so moderation time can refluctate. However, we are working on improving the moderation process. As awlways we appreciate your feedback.

     Thank you,

    THANKS for the Reply & Answer to my query

    We hope that in the not to distant future that the moderation process will improve, cause at times even tho post Do NOT enclude Links, or HTML, they still get sent for Moderation

    Tom,

        I have posted items with links and they go through just fine. There was one on electronics just today. Other times the moderated ones seem to hit me at the late afternoon hours

    Hi Tom

    I just got moderated asking a PASSPORT QUESTION. No links, cut & pastes or URLs.

    I am wondering if the "dirty word" in the middle of passport triggers an alert...?   Moderation for inappropriate content is a right I can respect Carnival reserving. HOWEVER sometimes the sensitive software and other factors can be just plain irritating!       Angry

    I was just moderated on a passport question as well. Seems kind of silly since there were no links in mine either.

    The post I made above was sent to moderation also! Must be the bad part of THAT WORD   Hmm

    When I get into a naughty mood, I am going to find many words that either look or sound bad but aren't and see if I can stimulate the moderators!!!

    My husband says I have TOOOOOO much time on my hands .....hmmm......  Hmm

    I Think ( which always makes my damn head hurt ) that each & Everyone of us that get regular non url, links, etc etc, post sent to the Moderation Team should loadup Stephanie's email with our complaints

    Seems to me that the system here stinks, and most likey will until they hire a good IT staff @ connections that knows how to setup the proper filters

    Then again the if they do the Kids @ Camp Carnival wont have anything to read

    Hey Monkeyheads,

    This is what i've started doing

    When I make a posting or reply to any area of the connections forums, and right before I hit "post" - I hi lite my complete entry, and do the edit / copy function - this way if it gets flagged for moderation, I have the complete message saved, and it gets sent to Stephanie asking WHY it was flagged

    I figure if she gets enough of these from everyone, maybe, just maybe things will get sorted out with how the system here really works
