    Stateroom Cleaning ...A few questions

     Hello  Folks  ,

Well to start out , 1st off Im NOT a Germafobe ..

How clean  are the staterooms .. ?  I  mean the  turnover  from one cruise to another is  real fast . How much time do they  put into really cleaning a room in between cruises ?

Im planning  on bringing  bleach wipes  and going  over  EVERYTHING  as  soon as we get to board .. Ive  read that the bathroom floors are  Tile .. Is the  grout  clean?  With all this  swine flu  and  other things  that can get you sick im wondering How  much is  put into the  cleaning of the rooms .. ?

    Thanks  for  your  time  ..

I am of the same mind, but I am more worried about cigarette smoke being embedded into the drapes, carpeting, bedding, etc, than I am about germs.

I will have to add bleach/Clorox wipes to my list of things to bring... thanks!

Re: Stateroom Cleaning ...A few questions

They start cleaning the rooms as soon as the guest vacates and each steward has several rooms to do. That said they are quite skilled at getting them clean. I've never had a problem with that on any ship I"ve been on.

It is not real tile. More like fiberglass or hard plastic with a pressed square pattern. No grout. The room stewards clean the cabins 2 times a day so unless the people that just left the cabins are slobs the cabins can be cleaned by 1:30p. Happy Sailing!

Re: Stateroom Cleaning ...A few questions

my wife and i were on our last cruise with carnival 7 years ago, our room was not very clean at first as we had our stuart to clean twice more after we arrived. as with any hotel or cruise the first thing we do is remove the bed spread(yuck,if you ever seen primetime live with sam donaldson)happy thoughts happy thoughts, ok im back, any how there were hairs on the pillow and hair in the shower. im not a nut its just gross, so im going to bring a small bag of stuff to put my mind to ease, oh well i feel the need to go take a shower now, lol. is it july 13th yet ???

one more thing, i will say that the first time we arrived back to our cabin it gone over very well. i think they clean all the rooms just ok,how ever if some one speaks up they jump right on it and do a very good job. with so little time and so much to do, i get it.

If you look really really hard, you will find hair all over the place.  I just usually pick it up with my bare hands, and discard it.  So much easier, than complaining.  The bed you are sleeping on, must I go on what happens on that bed???

Bottom line is this, wherever you go, if you are going to worry, no matter what anyone says, you are going to be freaked out by the slightest item.  Every room stewart is different, and I am sure, like any place you go, you will have the great ones, and not so great ones.

Why is hair gross, don't you have some? Don't you shed it also?  Don't the room stewarts pick yours up? yuck.

Walt, I can't believe you would bring up the smoke issue again...it's a dead horse we have been beating up on this board for...ever.

As far as the cleanliness question, I would assume those concerned carry a pack of bleach towels with them wherever they go, and I'm sure you wear heppa masks whenever you are outside the home as well.

My cabins have always been as clean as I could would expect even in the best of hotels.

Wendy   I totally agree with you.  I hate the smell of smoke but have yet to walk into  a cabin and smell smoke.  I have never had a cabin that was dirty in any way.  If I did, I would complain to the steward. In fact, the steward will come to you cabin, introduces himself and have you sign your name that your cabin was clean.  Carnival keeps their ships well maintained and spotless.  Sometime I find paper towels on the floors in the restrooms but only because some cruisers are slobs.  If  I would drop a paper towel, I would bend over and pick it up.

I just left the Triumph this morning. Our stateroom was extremely clean. Better than most hotels I've stayed in. The bathroom was nice as well. (This is coming from a germaphobe who wears flip flops in the shower) There was no smoke smell in our cabin. The stewards do a great job. I've seen them wiping down furniture and walls as we walked down the halls during debarkation.
