    Seven mile beach

Can you walk to the beach from the port or would it be best to book the shore excursion offered with Carnival? I was unsure whether to wait and book it depending on the weather. We are going out on June 15th on the Inspiration. Can't wait!!

No there's no way. It's about a 10 or 15 minute drive & the roads are very narrow. No pace to really walk. You can just wait until you get there and take a cab. I think it's like $5 per person. But if you book through Carnival you are guaranteed a lounge chair! We did that and when we got there found lot's of watersports where you can rent directly from the vendor. We did the parasailing. It was awesome!

I was just looking at the excursion to seven mile beach and it's 29 a person to go there. Do you think it's better to just take a cab for 5 bucks a person. Do they charge to get into the beach? Could we just rent a lounge chair, do you know? What kind of watersports do they have there? Sorry for all the questions, i tried looking online for sevenmile beach, but it dose'nt give you much info....so all that you can share with me would be really helpful.

    Thanks,

    Maryanne

You can walk  but it about a mile or you can grab a cab for $5.00 US per person and have them take you to the free beach it's about 3 miles up the road and there is a bar changing room and chairs for rent .It's a real nice place and clean

Sure there's a way!  We walked from the pier to Royal Palms a few years ago - it was about 2 miles each way.  AND there was a sidewalk for the majority of the walk!  FYI - Royal Palms has a beach bar, rents jetskis, has locker rentals for around $4 and beach chair rentals for $5.  I believe there's a website out there somewhere for the bar but at this moment, I can't remember the name.  If you can possibly find a map, it's the first public beach at the southern end of 7 mile.  If you're just going to walk all you need to do is look for the place that has the huge palm trees leading up the drive to the beach.

ps - I just googled Royal Palms and found several review sites and also the name of the grill - it's the Reef Grill!

I was just at Seven Mile Beach on 06/09/09 and we took transportation that was offered at the pier. There was a company (sorry can't remember the name) that had about 15 or 20 people with signs showing excursions that they offered. All the workers had on the same shirt and they were just outside the gates of the pier. They offered transportation to Seven Mile Beach for $4 per person one way. They take you to a really nice area that has a changing room, a bar, and a grill. They have a patio w/tables and umbrellas. They also have beach chairs you can rent for $6 and also jet skis. They have vans constantly running back and forth to the ship. It is a very nice location and we will definitely go there again.

Thanks, your info is very helpful. It sounds like that is the way to go. Did you notice if they offer parasailing there? We went to the Grand Caymans last year, but we did the stingray, turtle farm and hell excursion. So we thought we would go to seven mile beach this time, and maybe check out the town some. Maybe go to Margaritaville.

    Thanks again You´re right:11721

Sorry I didn't notice anyone parasailing from that location. It doesn't mean they didn't offer it. I just didn't notice. It was a very nice place and I'm sure your family will have a great time. Happy sailing!!!

    Shoreline?

That's what we'd always send new Boy Scouts down to the commissary at summer camp to pick up 75 feet of.

Cayman is a tender port, if that's what you're asking.  You -- or, rather, the captain and his pilot will -- park the boat a few hundred yards off Georgetown, and almost immediately a swarm of little tiny boats will line up along side to collect passengers in groups of a hundred or more, and ferry them those few hundred yards to a dock, where they will all file out and either get a posed picture taken or not.

Once on the island, you get to various locations by the standard ways: walking, jogging, running, cabbing, or busing.

While Seven Mile Beach is technically within walking distance -- you can get there and back during the cruise stop -- most people would suggest you take a cab or do an excursion, either through Carnival or one of the local outfits, which are quite reliable.

    Re: Seven mile beach

I see you can book this excursion through carnival... it says only for 3.5 hours,,, is that a total time or can you stay longer or shorter and then take a cab or bus back to the ship?  Are there any snorkel tours on this beach to hook up with up?

    Re: Seven mile beach

We came out much cheaper going to 7 mile beach on our own when we were there in June. It all depends on what you want to do. As others have said, for about $4/person each way you can get to a nice area where you can rent lounge chairs, get drinks etc. I think the excursion was something like $29/person through Carnival. We just took towels and laid out on them and let the kids swim. Came out much cheaper, but to each his/her own. It depends on what you want. I found Cayman to be very easy to navigate and the people extremely friendly. It is definitely an island I would say you would be okay to do your own thing. Other's may disagree. Keep in mind if you are going to book through someone other than Carnival it is a tender port so if the tenders can''t get to you, you may have to skip that port or come in a different day. Happy cruising.

    Re: Seven mile beach

thanks for the reply.  When you went to Seven Mile Beach,,, did you come back early, go by cab or what?  I have heard different versions of Seven Mile Beach and that you can get back to near the port area to do some shopping before going back on ship, is that correct?   Anyone know if there are any snorkeling excursions around this beach also?

We just went to Seven Mile Beach.  Got off the ship took a cab $5 per person each way, rented chairs for $6 each and an umbrella for $4.  Cabs are in abundance and you can leave whenever you get ready. Much cheaper than going through carnival.  Just an FYI, if you have your pass ports and want to get them stamped... when you get off the tender from the ship there is a green building on the right that houses immigration, go inside and they will stamp your passport for you - no charge.  We did that in Grand Caymen and Roatan.
