You can pack it in your checked luggage, and doubtful if it would be a problem going into Jamaica from the ship. Coming back on board the ship from Jamaica good chance it may be confiscated and held until the end of your cruise.  If you don't want to chance your knife being confiscated you are better off to just leave it at home.

weapons are not allowed.... according to the what not to pack.... you can not even bring scissors with blade over 4 inches... so I do not think the knife would be allowed.  they do allow scuba knives but they are held until you leave to go scuba diving.  read section 4F on the cruise contract

    Re: Knife??

VA Cruiser (as usual) knows of what she speaks.  A friend of mine and I had our scuba knives taken.  Not when we boarded, but when we were getting back on the ship after diving.  I think they didn't take it before because they didn't find it burried amongst a ton of other scuba gear.  The knives were later returned.

I know knives to some people are worn as part of their normal dress and understand the utility of having one handy, but what purpose would it serve on a cruise ship?  I don't have a problem with you taking it, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious.  If I was concerned it might be taken by carnival when boarding, I'd leave it in the car.

Excellent point VA_Cruiser... I must have been having a serious lack of brain moment this morning and forgot about the no weapons thing.  BIG DUH on my part.

We always have a swiss army knife in our checked luggage and that is where it lives the entire cruise.  The most important thing on that swiss army knife (at least to me) are the little sissors so that when I am having a worse than usual hair moment I can hack away on my hair!

I don't know about you guys, and maybe it is just a Canadian thing, but I don't know I would be able to enjoy myself knowing "bubba"  is walking araound with a "bucknife with a 4.5 inch blade" with him on board...... what is it needed for onboard, would it be in case of a Monkeyhead attack?? I'm for Bubba leaving it at home.

Yeah...  home would be a good place for the knife to live the duration of the cruise.
