Roatan or no Roatan? Did the your Legend cruise stop there?

I am booked on the Legend on 9/20/09 and I am curious to hear how often this port is getting cancelled. If you have been on the Legend recently, let us all know if you got to see Isla Roatan. Thanks. I can't wait till September!

Just returned from the Legend May17th sailing and we did make port at Isla Roatan! What a gorgeous island! No problems whatsoever! We booked a private tour through Victor Bodden and it was FANTASTIC! For $40 per person you have your own personal driver in an air conditioned car/minivan. He will take you wherever you want to go and stay with you the whole time! We had "Hanno". He took us to Victors home and we played with spider monkeys, deer, and birds. The Monkeys were fantastic and VERY friendly! Drove to West End which is very quaint and beautiful! Then went to the Mayan Princess Resort at Tabayana Bay. For $10 each we had full use of their un-believable pool and beach! You can snorkel from the beach out to the reef! And the reef is still very pristine! Hanno shared the sites and history of the island with us and helped us barter for goods to bring home. Took us to a Locals lunch which was scrumptious! Roatan is still a poor central american country, but is fast developing. The people are very happy, friendly, and helpful. They will approach you to offer massages on the beach or sell local trinkets, but they are shy about it and not pushy at all. I would have skipped Grand Cayman and Belize to stay extra time at Roatan!!!! Don't miss this stop! And if you do, make sure you try again to go back! I told my husband to pack his bags....we are retiring there!!!!

Just got off the boat this morning (5/24/09) and we did stop at Roatan and thank goodness we did!  It was amazing.  The island is about as beautiful as any I have seen.  We went to Gumbalimba park and played with the monkeys and birds.  There was also a few shops at the pier.

I was on the 5/10/09 Legend, and we also stopped in Roatan. We did the Tabyana Beach excursion and it was awesome.

We were on the 5/10 Legend and did the Tabyana Beach excursion too!  I was the person who drank way too many Monkey-Lama drinks!

Just got off the Legend today. The 5/24/09 sailing did stop at Roatan despite the earthquake. I saw no apparent damage though one of our tour guides said there was some. We also did the Gumbalimba park tour with the birds and monkeys. I'd love to go back. It'a a beautiful island. It was my favorite stop.

Got off the Legend on 5/31. The cruise was awesome. Roatan was the most beautiful by far!!! The people there are friendly and do not haggle you too much. No thank you and they leave you alone. The water there is crystal clear. The coral is indescribable. We did the Tab. Beach exc. also. We will definitely go back!!!!

We took this cruise in November 2008.  We were originally scheduled to stop in Roatan but were switched to Costa Maya as our last stop instead.  We were the first Carnival Cruise to stop there since Hurricane Dean devistated the area.  I was so glad we stopped there!  The people were so happy to have the ships stopping again and went out of their way to please us.  We took a snorkeling excurion on a catamaran and it was abosolutely beautiful!  We also had time to shop at the pier - it had just been rebuilt and the town square has a pool in the middle of it!  It sounds like either stop will be wonderful for you!

    Happy Cruising!

Just got off the ship yesterday.  We did go to Roatan.  I was disappointed with the port, but the ones that took an excursion said it was wonderful.  So make sure you book a tour or excursion at this port of call.

I was on the same sailing as pp.. Roatan was my favorite port by far. We booked through Victor Bodden, and toured the island, went to a beach, and visited Victor's monkeys.. had a private driver for $40 pp.

Why would this be a question?  Are boats skipping it?

Do they rent snorkels at Tabyana Beach or does the Legend rent from the ship?
