    Beaches in the Bahamas

    Hey Y'all,

Any suggestions for 'just spending the day at the beach' in either Freeport or Nassau in the Bahamas.  My 13 year-old would love to spend the day at the beach.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,  Suzie

    Freeport
There is a public beach in Port Lucaya next to the casino. If you would like day passes that allows you to shower and use the hotel pools check the following link: copy & paste www.carnivalconnections.com/cruisetalk/forums/t/64682.aspx

    Nassau
I have not been on a beach in Nassau. I did a dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon and then the Yellowbird Party Boat that takes you to a private island.

Hi Suzie! Just got back from the Bahamas and I will tell you that around the corner(approx. 15 minute walk is a public beach that was nice and didnt cost a dime) That was Nassau. Not sure about Freeport cause I only shopped there.

Sorry Suzie! I meant to add that this was right around the corner from Senor Frogs! Sorry about that!

Hey Sherri, could you rent beach chairs and umbrellas there?

Be very careful with the "free" beach... right next to Senor Frogs is British Colonial Hilton (BCH) and it has a day pass for around $15-20pp that includes chairs/pool/use of bathroom/bars and nice quiet beach.... plus security.

    Re: Beaches in the Bahamas

I just posted a question about the dolphin swim, maybe you can help me?  How was it, was it worth th $185.? I had been planning on taking a look around the Atlantis and then finding a beach (the one with the re-fillable coconut) sounded about right, but my daughter wants to do a dolphin swim and this is her graduation trip so....

    dolphin swim
I thought it was well worth the money. Had an absolutely wonderful time. We all had life vests on in the lagoon. The dolphins swam by and we were able to pet them. Then individually we hugged, kissed and danced with the dolphins. There was also a foot push across the lagoon. Two dolphins will push you by the heels of you feet .. Superman style!!! It was really a great experience. Blue Lagoon takes pictures and a DVD. You are allowed to take an underwater camera. Happy Sailing!!

Hi BeachBunny! There werent any chairs or umbrellas but it was a nice beach I thought and it was only 5 or 6 people there and we never had any problems at all and it didnt cost a dime!

You can't just walk around Atlantis without a pass.  They offer diffferent kinds as does the ship.  That seems a bit steep... you might try some other spots online for alternate ways to do the dolphin swim.

We just came back from Nassau on the Glory and did the free beach past the British Colonial Hilton. Just like any place you just need to practice common sense. The water is beautiful. The sand did have some shells, rocks and coral pieces in it. There were some local kids running around on the beach and when they came close to our stuff, I got out of the water and "dried" myself by our stuff. We walked into the BCH too and it is real nice but $20 X 4 people would be a big price for just a two hours on the beach. On the way back we did Senor Frogs which was so much fun. Even my kids loved it. There were plenty of kids there. It is touristy but very fun.

I also recommend the Adastras zoo, Pirate Museum and a quick walk around town and maybe drop into the straw market and that is plenty to do for our very short stop in Nassau.

You all have been so helpful.  I don't know what I would have done without this forum.  I guess I would have gotten off the boat and just stood there like a dummy!

Do you have any idea if there is a hotel in Freeport that offers something similiar? I have called a couple of local hotels but I am not having any luck..

     Thanks~
